With all these rumors and newsfeeds about Kobe demanding changes in the office and on the roster, it makes me wonder just when we're actually going to see the fruition of all this. It also brings me to ask the question, "when are the Lakers going to be bringing home championships like in the Kobe/Shaq era?"

Based on the current roster, it's going to be quite a while before Bynum becomes the dominant center everyone's expecting him to be and it's going to take a while for Odom to realize that he can be aggressive even when Kobe's on the court.

If the Lakers tried trading for another all-star, I can't think of someone reasonable who'd make the Lakers an "expected to win/make it to the finals" team, even Garnett.

    What do you guys think?

It's pretty much up in smoke. That's just like asking, when are the Knicks going to be a dynasty? When are the Celtics going to be a dynasty? Who knows? Hopefully we start next season, but it's going to take a lot of changes before we even win a championship, let alone start a dynasty

I think a better question is how long will it take for the Lakers to reach the Finals?

A better question would be, how long will it take for the Lakers to advance past the first round?

A better question would be, will the Lakers reach the PLAYOFFS next year?

Teams take time to become a "dynasty". The ony dynasty that I see on the rise would probably be any team that centers around Lebron (Cleveland or Brooklyn, whatever you perfer) in the near future, and the Spurs as long as Duncan is on board.

BETTER question is are the Lakers going to trade Kobe?

It's going to be a long time to be dynasty having players like Kwame Brown and Smush Parker in the Lakers. There going to make A LOT of changes. I give them another two years to at least reach the Finals.

2 years, I doubt it. I think the only way Kobe will reach the finals in a Laker uniform is if he has another dominate Center or forward. I think even with Kidd, he couldn't do it. The Lakers have no front line, to win they need that. They need to make dire changes, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Kobe not there when it happens. AI left, he can go too.

You guys are taking your past success for granted. Dynasties are truly rare and a team can win a couple championships and still not be considered a dynasty. Its hard enough to build a title-winning team, let alone a dynasty.

I completely agree with Chutney. This team isn't going to be a dynasty for a long time. Kobe Bryant isn't going to be in his prime long enough to get the pieces around him for a dynasty. If we do trade Bynum...we don't have an immediate prospect for the future.

And who cares about a dynasty? We're one of the greatest sports organizations in the world...we need to worry about advancing in the playoffs...hell advancing in the seeding, settling for 7-8 is ridiculous.
