I'd love to go to this. Sonic Youth and Girl Talk would be my main highlights.

I live in the area so thankfully I have easy access. Also thankful that it isn't taking place while I'm in France. I figured you'd be big on seeing Mastodon?

I saw Mastodon last week here in New York. Played with a good punk band called Against Me that my ladyfriend wanted to see. Mastodon were okay I guess. The pit was pretty slammin'! Not quite Slayer level, but close.

That's cool, man, last time I seen Slayer was a decade ago. Soooo long ago.

Why don't you try to get Pitchfork to fly you over to Chicago for the event? It is a long shot, but you never know, yeah? Go to the website and head to the News section. Go to the post from May 7.

    It reads as:

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Be a Part of the P4k Festival Behind the Scenes
Together with our friends at FUZE, we're calling all fans for a chance to see the summer's most cutting-edge festival up close and personal—and be a part of it behind the scenes!

We'll pick the best review, photo and poster—and we'll fly each winner and their guest to Chicago, put them up in a hotel for the weekend, and give them $500 cash and two VIP passes to the festival.

But that's not all. The writer of the winning review will get to review this year's festival—and their article will be excerpted on Pitchforkmusicfestival.com. The winning photographer will join Pitchfork's official photo crew for the weekend. And the winning poster artist will see a limited edition of their work printed up and for sale on the festival grounds!</div>

Slint has me creaming my pants. Seriously, one of the best bands of all time imo.
