Is there any chance we can make a run for him? I mean think about it, he had his best success alongside Shaq in Los Angeles, so is it possible he'd want to finish his career with another dominant big man? If he comes to Orlando, he could have a similar duo with Dwight that he had with O'Neal. The only difference is Dwight doesn't have the ego problems. There have been reports saying that Kobe will only approve a trade to one team. Chances are it is someone like the Bulls since he was considering signing there a couple offseasons ago but is there any shot at us going after him? I mean, it's ultimately the Lakers decision on where he goes and I'm sure they're going to ship him to the East. Do we have the pieces to acquire him?
<div class="quote_poster">GatorsowntheNCAA Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I would love for you to go to the Lakers board and offer them Darko, Ariza, and JJ for Kobe, lol.</div> How about this: Darko Milicic Jameer Nelson Future first round pick Both of our second rounders for Kobe Wishful thinking? You betcha!
You might as well throw in Garrity AND a turkey sandwich WITH SWISS CHEESE for Kobe too. That might be enticing enough. btw, there is a trade scenario thread in the Lakers forum, so go propose them a deal for us, lol.
<div class="quote_poster">Swish Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Done! Seriously though, getting Kobe would make me cry.</div> If we get Kobe(which 100% will not happen) I will also cry, but probably not the same way you will cry.

The only way we would be able to get kobe is to let go of dwight which wont happen...if we did get kobe alongside dwight..that would be a match made in heaven
<div class="quote_poster">Swish Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Wait, you wouldn't want Kobe?</div> Nope. We thought the Tmac situation is bad, this is 100x worse. He expects to win a championship right away and the Magic's organization doesn't make moves like the Lakers does and the Lakers wasn't good enough for him. He would demand a trade after 2-3 seasons on the Magic or walk away and pull a Shaq. We can't draft, our FA signings suck, and we trade away the wrong players, so why would he want to stay with the Magic who would have 0 trade pieces besides Dwight/Kobe. Not to mention would he be willing to share the ball with Dwight? Dwight better get 15-20 shots next year regardless of who is on the team. I'm opposed to having a lineup that consists of someone scrub, Kobe, scrub, scrub, Dwight. We would have to give up our entire team other than Dwight for Kobe and I don't want to do it. He's one of the most talented players to ever lace it up, but I don't want to see him in Magic colors, I'd rather trade and get Rashard Lewis and keep the majority of our team then trade our entire team for Kobe. It might just be me though. There is absolutely NO WAY IN HELL we trade Dwight for Kobe. If the Lakers were only so lucky. Thank god the Magic don't have to worry about hearing these trade rumors like we do with VC.

I'm with Gators. While a Kobe/Dwight pair does sound like a cream dream, we'd just be sacrificing too much. It's not as simple as "Well Dwight is like Shaq, and Kobe and Shaq won 3 titles so Dwight and Kobe should win at least one too," we'd have a bunch of scrubs making up the rest of our roster like Gators said. A championship wouldn't be guaranteed. I'd rather stick with our young core.
He's right they want a star for star trade. And as much as I love Kobe, giving up Dwight would be foolish. That and Kobe wants to go to a contender, and an Orlando without Dwight isn't in much better shape than LA is right now. I'd do: Darko JJ Jameer 2 first round picks for Kobe. Dwight+Kobe oh man
Getting Kobe would make ME cry. Gators, you bring up a solid point, with Kobe wanting to win now, similarities to the T-Mac situation, etc. but you have to understand. The East is very weak. No one on the East can contain, or even guard Kobe. If we had Dwight and Kobe, we could easily make the ECF. However, in order to get Kobe, we'd probably have to trade everyone on our team, including Stuff the Mascott.
So it turns out Kobe is just bipolar. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Kobe Bryant spoke with coach Phil Jackson and backed off his midday trade request made on the Stephen A. Smith radio show. "I don't want to go anywhere, this is my team," Bryant told KLAC radio. "I love it here. I called Phil, man, he and I talked, it was an emotional conversation, but he just said, 'You know what, Kobe? Let us try to figure this thing out.' "Phil is a guy I lean on a lot." Bryant told KLAC that his agent had contacted general manager Mitch Kupchak early Wednesday.</div> Source

I don't think Kobe/Dwight/scrubs can win a championship tbh. I just don't see that beating Dallas, Phoenix, or San Antonio.
Why does that Laker fan have a sig that says Bynum future HOF? Anyways, yeah the Bulls would probably get Kobe, not us. Let's trade Outlaw, Turkoglu, and Garrity for Kobe and Luke Walton lol that'll work. I think Kobe and Dwight would work though. Gators said something about the whole T-Mac situation. Well, Kobe is 1000X better than McGrady anyways and he hasn't had a big man since well Shaq so it could work. That would be scary especially in the East.
