Would you trade Ray Allen and Earl Watson (or Ridnour) straight up for Kobe?

Kobe mentoring Durant? Who wouldn't do that?

Here's an interesting question, is Kobe enough to keep the Sonics in Seattle?

I think without a doubt. Especially Kobe and Durant, that's more than enough media buzz to keep the Sonics in town. Kobe is a megastar with tons of fans here just like all over the world, games would sell out just to see him play. I don't think we'll get him but it's a nice thought.

It would be the Kobe and Durant show. IF that were to happen, do we...or would we be able to re-sign Lewis? Would we need to?

I'd trade anybody on the Supes besides the pick for Kobe. I don't think Kobe's going anywhere, though.

Ha! I was just going to propose that, except I was going to throw in Ridnour instead of Watson. Regardless, yes I’d do it in a heartbeat. I’d even throw in Petro if needed (considering that the Lakers may want another 7 footer if they deal Bynum as part of a package for Jermaine O’Neal)

If I were the Sonics, I would trade Durant in a heartbeat for Kobe.

Why would the Lakers trade Kobe for an aging Ray Allen? That wouldn't better them presently or for the future.

If Durant is your "preference" then I won't argue, but acquiring Kobe Bryant would be better for the organization than drafting Durant.

Firstly, if Durant turns out as expected, he still probably won't be as good as Kobe, who is currently the best player in the world. Ray Allen and Kobe Bryant would make an unstoppable backcourt duo and if the Sonics can re-sgin Lewis, or trade him for some type of presence in the middle, then they will definitely be one of the favorites to win it all.

Durant will be an excellent building block for the future, but he can be sacrificed for a legitimate shot to win it all in the next couple of years.

Kobe is also 29 and isn't going to deliver us a championship playing alongside Ray Allen, and isn't going to do as much for the fanbase longterm as drafting a kid like Durant will.

I'd trade him for Ray in a heartbeat, but that top two pick is untouchable.

The Lakers organization is not that clueless... The only reason they would trade Kobe to Seattle would be for the 2nd pick and some young talent. There really is a no win siutaution for Seattle. Kobe and Ray Allen will not do much. Kobe wants to win, not end up at ground zero at another team. The Lakers are trying to rebuild, so why would they take Allen? This trade idea would really not work.

OTOH, Kupchak did sign Vlad to 5/30. Probably one of the reasons Kobe felt he was misled.

Ray Allen is one of the few guards in the league that I think you could trade youth for. I've never once seen him look even remotely tired on the court. I remember reading an article that he barely even sweats. He seems to play in such a way that stress on his body is minimal... and that jumper ages like fine wine.

It's called the "shooting only jump shots and playing no defense" method. He's a master.
