Do you guys think there's any way for us to get Kobe Bryant? I tried a trade scenario on RealGM and it worked out: New Jersey Trade Breakdown Outgoing Vince Carter 6-6 SG from North Carolina 25.2 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 4.8 apg in 38.1 minutes Antoine Wright 6-6 SF from Texas A&M 4.5 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 0.9 apg in 18.0 minutes Mile Ilic 7-2 C from Serbia-Montenegro (Foreign) 0.0 ppg, 0.2 rpg, 0.0 apg in 1.2 minutes 2007 Draft #17 Pick 0-0 from No games yet played in 2006/07 Incoming Kobe Bryant 6-6 SG from Lower Merion (HS) 31.6 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 5.4 apg in 40.8 minutes Change in team outlook: +1.9 ppg, -3.3 rpg, and -0.3 apg. 2007 Draft #40 Pick 0-0 from No games yet played in 2006/07 L.A. Lakers Trade Breakdown Outgoing Kobe Bryant 6-6 SG from Lower Merion (HS) 31.6 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 5.4 apg in 40.8 minutes 2007 Draft #40 Pick 0-0 from No games yet played in 2006/07 Incoming Vince Carter 6-6 SG from North Carolina 25.2 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 4.8 apg in 38.1 minutes Antoine Wright 6-6 SF from Texas A&M 4.5 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 0.9 apg in 18.0 minutes Mile Ilic 7-2 C from Serbia-Montenegro (Foreign) 0.0 ppg, 0.2 rpg, 0.0 apg in 1.2 minutes Change in team outlook: -1.9 ppg, +3.3 rpg, and +0.3 apg. Successful Scenario Due to New Jersey and L.A. Lakers being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. New Jersey and L.A. Lakers had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Basically, we sign and trade Carter and send him along with Wright, Ilic and our first round pick (#17) to the Lakers for Kobe and on of their 2nd round picks (#40). Ilic doesn't look like he's really a part of the Nets' future, and Wright has been a bust so far. Both could really help out the Lakers rebuilding proccess (Wright could even start or be the 6th or 7th man, while Ilic is a gamble for the future who could become a good backup big man for Bynum). Our 17th pick is a sacrifice, but it's a huge part of the trade for LA. Carter probably doesn't want to stay, but the big question is whether he'd want to sign if he knew he'd be traded to LA. Obviously, he's not close to Kobe's level of play lately. Anyway, there are a few big questions: 1)Can Kobe help lead us to the title along with Kidd, RJ, Krstic and Moore? 2)Can we sign at least two solid benchies in the offseason to help us out? 3)Will the Lakers even want to trade Kobe for an aging Carter, a draft pick and two risky players? 4)Is three players and a good draft pick too much for one player?
I was hoping to discuss the situation in this thread http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70838 But since it is a big deal, let's do it here. All I have to say is, I will let the Lakers have anyone they want (besides Kidd) for Kobe. Having Kobe on the Nets is like a wet dream for me. Push for itt Kidd!!!!
Kobe could be a great face for this team as they move to Brooklyn. Maybe Sign-and-Trade with Vince Carter and fillers for Kobe. Kobe wanted to play with Jason Kidd, so why not go to play with Kidd?
There is a 0.0001% chance that this trade will happen, but it's definitely exciting. I wonder if he Kobe is truly interested in going to NJ?

<div class="quote_poster">The Legend Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Why would the Lakers take Vince Carter for Kobe Bryant?</div> If they do trade him, no matter where to, they probably won't get equal value.
<div class="quote_poster">STC Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">If they do trade him, no matter where to, they probably won't get equal value.</div> No trade will have equal value for Bryant. It just won't happen and I think the Lakers know that. I assume if/when they trade Kobe, it will be for picks and young players who can be built around. That is what I would do if I were looking to trade Kobe. I do this mainly becuase Kobe is one of the greatest, if not the greatest player in the game today. To trade him for T-Mac or VC or anyone is that star stature, is not worth the Lakers time. When Kobe leaves, or gets traded, that is it. Re-building time for sure. The Laker dynasty will try to be re-built around a core of young stars and Bynum.

<div class="quote_poster">STC Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">If they do trade him, no matter where to, they probably won't get equal value.</div> Teams never get equal value back. Remember our trade for Carter, we didn't get equal value back.

The Lakers are not rebuilding. Their not even looking at 3-4 years. They want to win now. If anything, Kobe will be welcoming Kidd to L.A. next season.
<div class="quote_poster">STC Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">If they do trade him, no matter where to, they probably won't get equal value.</div> Unless of course they snag someone like Lebron James. I think that would be the closest thing to it. Kobe aint leaving though. I have a feeling he'll be back.
<div class="quote_poster">STC Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">What WONT happen? Kobe being traded to the Nets? Or Kobe being traded in general?</div> He wont be traded to the Nets... I think there is a 10% chance he is traded though, hopefully to a team like New York or Houston (Kobe is an upgrade over Tmac ) But id still prefer the lakers getting Kobe a winning team than trading him
