You guys planning to look at Jay Williams? I doubt he'll make the roster, but it's always good to check him out. If anything, Jay will be pretty cheap as well.

Well I mean Dooling can attack the basket effortlessly and played better than Jameer at time against Detroit. And Arroyo is a solid backup who i think could start for another team. Plus Arryo is a huge crowd favorite.

I don't watch the Magic regularly, but that's going overboard.

Ever since Orlando got many Puerto Ricans, so pretty much ever since he got to Orlando.

Yeah theres not that many puerto rican players in the league. so i mean its not a big suprise hes got a big fanbase in florida.

But for real remember just a few years ago Arroyo was the hottest free agent, and every team wanted him. then he got stuck in detroit and never played(thank Larry Brown) then he comes to orlando (full of PGS)

i still think hes got skills.

I prefer Dooling over Arroyo. Arroyo can be good once in a while, but he fails so hard at other times.

With Dooling you know what you're gonna get. A solid slashing PG who can hit an outside shot, and a pretty damn good hard-nosed defender.

Oh, and to add something to that list.

-Trade Pat Garrity for a Subway sandwich, preferably a meatball one(I love those).

Subway would make a big mistake trading any type of Sub (Hoagies aren't from chains unless they have Hoagie explicitly in the name) for Garrity. If Otis could pull that off it would be his greatest transaction to date.

Garrity was probably just trying to hide his pleasure with anger considering that was probably one of the few times anybody has actually asked him for an autograph in years. [IMG]

Yeah, most definitely. He probably thought, "Oh my god!!! SOMEONE WANTS MY AUTOGRAPH!!! Better act like I get this all the time and it annoys me!"

Dude, he should be asking for MY autograph. Why the hell would you ask for his?? Just curious. Dooling is sooooo much better than Arroyo. Arroyo makes stupid ass mistakes and isn't that good of a shooter. Dooling really isn't that much either but he can attack the rim and play D.

    Magic Work On To-Do List

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Orlando Magic didn't stop planning the rest of their summer during the high-profile firing-and-hiring coaching saga that dominated the news the past few weeks.

    It just looked that way.

The NBA draft, the pursuit of free agents, the summer league and trade possibilities all stayed on the horizon during the transition from Brian Hill to Billy Donovan to Stan Van Gundy.

"Maybe that [coaching change] was all you focused on, but we kept moving forward,'' said Otis Smith, the Magic's general manager. "This is still a very important summer for us. The coaching situation was just a part of it. The rest of our world didn't stand still.''

While everyone else seemed to relax last weekend once the bizarre coaching drama came to a close, Smith and his staff didn't have time to do anything but continue working through the to-do list.

The Magic currently don't have a first-round pick in the June 28 draft -- it was part of a trade with Detroit that brought Darko Milicic and Carlos Arroyo -- but they continue exploring the possibility of trading for one.

They still have two second-round picks (44th and 54th), even after giving one away to Miami (39th ) to sign Van Gundy.

Even more important to their future is the free-agency period that begins July 1. Free agents can begin signing new contracts July 11. For the first time since they signed Tracy McGrady and Grant Hill in 2000, the Magic will have significant salary-cap room ($10 million-$13 million) to pursue a high-profile free agent.

The problem is that this isn't a real attractive class. The best of the bunch -- Chauncey Billups (Detroit) and Vince Carter (New Jersey) -- are expected to re-sign with their current teams. Rashard Lewis (Seattle) and Gerald Wallace (Charlotte) could do the same.

The Magic also will be trying to re-sign center/forward Milicic, a restricted free agent whom they can keep by matching any other offer he receives. Yet the money they pay him will cut into the salary-cap room they need to sign someone else's free agent. There also is the issue of re-signing Grant Hill.

The Magic will be using the summer league in Orlando from July 9-13 to get a closer look at a host of young players, including second-year guard J.J. Redick. The league will include teams from Charlotte, Chicago, Indiana, Miami and New Jersey.

Magic center Dwight Howard will be part of the USA Basketball mini-training camp from July 20-22 in Las Vegas. He will return to Las Vegas in August for the FIBA Americas Championship, an Olympic qualifying event.

Although Redick has been invited to the minicamp that will be used to help pick the USA Team, he is expected to decline the invitation, preferring to work in Orlando with the Magic staff.

The Magic will open their training camp Sept. 29, then will leave for China Oct. 13, where they will play three exhibitions, including two against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"It's an important summer all around,'' Smith said. "The coaching thing consumed much of our time, but it didn't consume all of our time. You can't let one thing stop the four or five other things that need to be done.''</div>
