One guy they had interest in, according to a couple of spies, is Golden State's never-used Sarunas Jasikevicius and that might be a name being kicked around this week.

They'll be shopping Morris Peterson, at least informally, to gauge interest and you can be sure if someone wants to talk about Rasho Nesterovic, they'll listen.

So no matter what dearth of news comes out of the camp, rest assured work is being done.</div>

Finally, some news! I like this idea simply because his value is at an all-time low right now. And I still believe that given the right situation, he can be a valuable contributor in the NBA.

His value is at an all-time low, and he is behind Baron Davis and Monta Ellis in the depth chart at PG. What would we offer for him?

He has 1 year remaining at 4 million per year.

Yep, he's right up our alley.

In all seriousness though, I like his game. Someone buy D-mart a suit if this happens.

I'd trade Juan Dixon for him. They're both on their last year and GS might be enticed by Dixon's smaller contract. Plus there's the odd chance that he meshes well with Don Nelson.

I think Sarunas would be a better version of Juan Dixon on our team (that scoring PG/undersized SG role). I think he'd also find a nice fit here, because the biggest problem in his NBA career has been that he's wound up in places where he just doesn't fit in. Plus how cool would it be to have two of Maccabi's all-time best players on the same roster.

Jasikevicius would be a good player for the Raps or should i say the Raps would be a good team for Jasikevicius since most teams don't run his style of play. He's a pick and shoot type of player which by chance the Raps run it over 50% of the time. He is not a spot-up shooter which a lot of teams thought he was. He need the ball to be effective, so being on the Raps could bring out his game a lot better.

Sarunas Jasikevicius is an awesome international player but I tend to agree with Larry Brown assesment: "I think he's a great international ballplayer. But a lot of things he can do internationally, he couldn't do in our league. I'm a fan of international ball, but there are a lot of guys who do well in their environments that would struggle in our league."

If Don Nelson couldn't figure out a way to use this guys talents - im not sure the raptors brass could either. what puzzles me is the fact that he was a great 3 point shooter in europe +45% in the euroleague and +53% from 3 in the israeli league. I guess he is having dificulty adjusting his range to the NBA level.

His contract expires nextyear so he is not much of a risk but if picking him is part of a muh bigger plan eg. trading either ford or calderon and having Sarunas as our back up pg it would be a pretty big risk.

I agree with you. He won almost all the awards as an international player, but now, he just isn't being used to his full potential. I think he can become a solid backup PG or SG.

Like Chutney said, Juan Dixon for Sarunas Jasikevicius would be a good trade because Sarunas Jasikevicius is a better shooter and passer and rebounder, overall his game is better then Dixon's.

I think though, if the Raptors did trade for him, Jasikevicius would play the SG position more then the PG position, becuase Ford and Calderon are way to good not to play.

I think that range isn't the problem. I've seen a number of games of Jasikevicius in the NBA, he he hits 3's no problem. Just I think he confidence is up and down, because of the amount of playing time he gets in GS. He needs to be utilized more, and I think the Raptors can do just that.

I would love to see Jasikevicius in Toronto, hopefully Colangelo can get him for cheap and he can become a productive member of our offense.

I'm not sure if the Warriors bite on that Juan Dixon trade, but it's an idea. I just think if Sarunas gets moved, it'll be in some effort to climb up the draft board and pick the players that they want to pick. There's really no guarantee that Dixon would get any playing time as a Warrior if they want to develop Monta Ellis and give him more minutes. Dixon isn't a pure point guard and they weren't really giving Sarunas much playing time at the point even when Baron was sitting out for a while. So I think the trade would be a wash of sorts. I personally like Sarunas a lot more because he's got a bit more playmaking skill, I think.

Meh...he's struggled, and Dixon has fit in well with us. I'd rather keep Juanny to be honest.

Dixon's salary is slightly less that Sarunas', but I agree with you. It might be a situation where GS would rather keep him since his value is so low and Toronto isn't willing to offer more than a couple scrubs to acquire him. I'm interested to see what he does after this upcoming season though.
