QUOTE]? The Yi Jianlian games have begun. Yi is foregoing the physical-only portion of the camp -- the first time I remember seeing that move by a player. Yi is not injured and he's not in China. He's pulling out to maintain control of the process. Both his agent, Dan Fegan, and the Chinese government want to make sure Yi lands on the "right" team. So Yi will work out for only a few select teams. Yi's Orlando maneuver means that the other teams in the league won't even have the results of a physical to look at, which might further discourage them from draft Yi. Don't be shocked if Golden State or Chicago finds a way to move up and grab Yi. They seem to be the two "approved" teams most interested. [/QUOTE MMMM i wonder if this rumor is true besides the Warriors own pick who would be traded and what team would be high enough and willing to trade and swap picks?
<div class="quote_poster">Duckmyster Wrote</div><div class="quote_post"> MMMM i wonder if this rumor is true besides the Warriors own pick who would be traded and what team would be high enough and willing to trade and swap picks?</div>Well, if China does not want him going to certain places, and they would like him to go to Oakland, that opens up a lot of possibilities. You may not even need to guess exactly what pick he's going to land at or overbid. If let's say the Celtics want him at #5, but China doesn't want him to go to Boston, then he's not going there, period. Seems the Warriors will have some leverage. I think he's worth a gamble, but I wouldn't give up the farm for him. Not Baron, Beans, or Ellis. JRich? Maybe, especially if we could shed some salary with it, take expiring contracts, etc.
I'll be upset if we even give up Sjax for Yi, but then again I'm thinking in the "now". What if Sjax sees jail time or a major league suspension in the future? What happens if we miss out on a unique player that could prove to be quite a versatile mismatch nightmare on offense and defense? I wouldn't give up Beans, Jrich, Ellis, Baron, Sjax for Yi, but would give up anything Al Harrington or less. The reason is what happens if Yi turns out to be the next Jonathan Bender in terms of impact? I still feel like Jrich is a crucial piece to have when we need a 20ppg power scorer (Okay when Jrich isn't shooting threes he can take at any time) and also when Ellis ain't doing much besides turn the ball over. Plus, Baron needs a reliable player to go to because he just shouldn't be taking those threes off the dribble like he did in the playoffs, he needs to pass it more. (I know he had to shoot though because very few guys outside of Stephen Jackson actually scored inside/out and had the ability to isolate and split defenses.) But I'd like to see what Jrich can do to pick up his inside game off the dribble and passing off the drive (especially when teams try to trap him or close him off). Whatever the power forward can do to help our scorers in the rebounding, shotblocking, and inside scoring would be welcome. I don't think AH will do much for us besides be a decent utility guy in the regular season. He already takes too many threes and his passes and iso skills are questionable at the bigger positions even when compared to Sjax IMO. Now, I admit I don't even feel super great about Yi (like I felt about the music on one of his youtube videos, I felt uncomfortable), but he is intriguing because of his size/skill/(also his marketing appeal on both sides of the pacific). And if the comparrisons to Pau Gasol are mostly dead-on, then I really want this guy. I don't really think Yi is that type of player to score inside like a traditional banger like Zach Randolph or Elton Brand, but if we look at Pau Gasol who was very, very lightweight for a 7 footer starting out, it's very plausible for him to score inside using more quickness than power and using the face-up game to use some dribble/drive moves or some set shots. As long as Yi has a good sense of balance and isn't knocked around like a rag doll I'll be happy. We're not looking for players with a poor base, sense of balance, and leg strength, we're looking for guys who look skinny but they can hang just fine (Chris Bosh, Charlie V., KG, J.O., Andrei Kirilenko). Not many people like the players that float between SF/PF that get knocked around like Dan Langhi or Mike Dunleavy Jr. They need to have the leg strength and the sense of balance/reaction time to take the contact and still finish the play. Let's hope Yi has great agility/coordination and has a great motor to never give up on the play and never get down on himself. The guy is definitely super athletic, but it remains to be seen how strong this guy can play.

Cabbages, Rice, Beans, and Cheesecake. Patrick O'Bryant was known as "Cheesecake" in some circles because of his interview on draft day saying that he likes to make a cheesecake. And of course, Cabbages is Sarunas Jasikevicius because of his last name is pronounced "Jah-sih-kev-i-chus". This is for the people who don't know what the hell we're talking about.

OMG! This is too funny. What would Baron be? "The General" kung pao chicken with his spicy cross over sauce? Ok it was a reach, sorry... lol
