Holy crap! Forget Lebron! Who's this Daniel Gibson guy? Un-freaking-believable. This kid is just amazing, so young too. Funny how the fortunes of Shannon Brown and Daniel Gibson have shaken up. He's got a new fan [IMG]

Damn I want a Gibson jersey so bad...

Credit that to the asshole named Mike Brown. I've completely given up on this organization. It's a one-man team, and although Gibson stepped up tonight, it was due largely to the pressure being turned up on James, leaving open opportunities for Gibson on the wing.

At the end of the day though, Gibson is a 6'0" shooting guard with a real selfish streak to his game. He's a player who can't create for himself and can't be relied upon as consistenly when James is being doubled down on as Brown would be.

Hopefully Brown gets the hell out of Cleveland before he's completely burried on the bench, because it really pains me to see Gibson out there but not Brown.

Come on Voodoo. I know you're a big fan of Shannon Brown, but give the guy credit when do. Daniel Gibson was simply amazing tonight, he was stroking and on fire. I really do think the guy has a great future in the league, and a Lebron-Gibson duo will be exciting to watch in the future.

I'm really sorry about your boy Shannon Brown, but wasn't he injured for the most part of this season? I don't really think you can blame Mike Brown. As stupid as Mike Brown may be, his Cleveland Cavaliers just upsetted the Detriot Pistons in route to the NBA Finals. The Cavs just made it to the Finals. FIRST time in franchise HISTORY, and your giving up on the franchise? No offense, but it sounds like someone's jealous

I agree with VD, Brown was never really given an opportunity to prove himself on the court by this organization. He is better than Daniel Gibson in my opinion, and would help this team a lot more, is he even on the playoff roster?

Oh yeah, I'm really jealous and really bitter, but I think I'm sort of justified. I'm giving up on the franchise in the sense that I'm no longer a fan, not saying that I don't think they'll be successful, because obviously with LeBron James at the helm, they'll continue to win.

They are a one-man team though. Gibson went off tonight with all of the open looks he got, and he should get credit to that, but in the long run, I can't see him playing Pippen to James' Jordan.

And yeah, Brown was injured most of the season, but you never know how legitimate injuries are. The team has shown an obvious lack of faith in Brown, sending him to the NBDL and never giving him and stretch of consistent playing time all season long.

All I'm saying is that they need to give Brown a chance. He'd be a major upgrade over Daniel Gibson on the perimeter.

That's what I was trying to get at. If they liked Brown enough to invest a first round draft pick in him, then why not at least give him the opportunity to show what he can do. He's barely hit the court all season long, but when he has been out there, he's been very effective.

I'm not sure, but like I said, part of the reason why Brown wasn't given a bigger opportunity was probably because of his injury. I don't see how you can blame coach Mike Brown for that....

Well, Daniel Gibson has shown flashes in the regular season, and he played pretty well when given the opportunity in the playoffs. His performance tonight was just amazing. I know that this type of play won't happen every single night, and I obviously don't think he'll be a Pippen to Lebron's Jordan, but I still feel he is a solid addition, and will turn out to be a great piece for this franchise in the future.

As for Shannon Brown, he was the Cav's first round pick, why wouldn't they show confidence in him? Maybe he just hasn't played up to par? Or maybe he's just having trouble adapting to the NBA game (it happens to some players)? I don't see how a team can favor their second round pick over their first round pick in their rookie seasons. Shannon Brown was just unlucky with the injuries, and Daniel Gibson was lucky he got a chance to play, and shined when given the opportunity, basically leading the Cavs in the second half past the Pistons.

I'm taking a hint from this article I read earlier...

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Brown can be found behind the bench in a suit tonight when Cleveland and the Detroit Pistons begin the Eastern Conference Finals at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

That's not where Brown - a first-round pick last June after leaving MSU a year early - envisioned himself.

"It's just not my time," Brown said. "Of course I'd like to be playing. That's the whole goal - I play basketball. But I know my time's coming. I can't hang my head, I can't pout about it.

"It's not that I'm bad at anything, there's just a certain level of play I need to reach. And there's a lot of inside things that people don't see that explain why people aren't playing sometimes."

    Such as?

    "That's why they're inside things."</div>

    http://www.lsj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?A...337/1023/news06

It just seems like he got on someone's bad side, whether it was Mike Brown's, LeBron James', or somone else's.

I'll stop ranting now though. I don't want to change the focus of this thread too much.

Best of luck to the Cavs' in the finals, and hopefully they find a better home to Brown for next season.

Here's an article about Shannon Brown's injury

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It isn't often you hear about a player who wishes that he were listed on the injury report.

Such is the bizarre injury and the bizarre situation in which Cavaliers rookie guard Shannon Brown finds himself.

As the Cavs struggled during the past week on their rough Western road trip and went through offensive woes and a brief Larry Hughes injury, plenty of fans wondered just where the first-round draft pick was. The answer was totally unavailable.

Brown is dealing with a somewhat serious injury in his lower left leg. He was kicked just above the ankle during practice Dec. 29, the day before he was to go to his hometown of Chicago for the first time as a pro. It turned out to a very deep bone bruise which has led to a host of other complications.

``It's really affected some muscles that control the movement in my foot,'' Brown said. ``I had a little bleeding in my bone marrow, then it sent some fluid into my Achilles area and swelled my ankle up. It's one of them freak things that happen, I guess.''

The Cavs never officially announced Brown had been injured and have never listed him on their daily injury report. Team officials said they haven't listed because they didn't think the injury was serious. Perhaps it isn't a big deal for a player who has been inactive for most games, but frankly Brown wouldn't mind it. He knows there's a perception out there that he just has been unable to play well enough to crack the lineup.

Even after a month, he's not healthy enough to take part in a full practice.

``I wish I was on there so people would know I'm not just sitting on the bench, but that's up to management,'' Brown said. ``It has been frustrating in every way.''

Brown continues to get lots of treatment on the area. The team doctors have told him the only thing that he can do is rest and that it's a day-to-day situation. However, Brown knows that he still isn't anywhere close to being able to compete for playing time and that it isn't an issue that is going to be cleared up in a few days.

``It restricts just about everything I do, when I try to make a move, my ankle won't cooperate. When it comes to those times in practice, I can't participate,'' he said. ``I didn't think it would keep me out this long.''

    </div>

    Link

The article states that Shannon Brown's injury was pretty bad. He himself said he preferred being on the injury list, although I'm not completely sure how long the injury should have kept him off the court.

Again, I just think it's an unfortunate twist of events for Shannon Brown, and Daniel Gibson has capitialized on the opportunity. I guess Gibson just impressed in practice when Brown was injured?

You also can't really expect Shannon Brown, who was "injured," and barely played at all in the regular season to get any substantial amount of playing in the playoffs?

Anyways, congrats to the Cavs for the big win. I really hope both Shannon Brown, and Daniel Gibson will have a great career in the future

Everyone who thinks Brown is a stupid coach or "just sux" needs to stfu. I am really getting sick of this LeBron took his team to the finals single handidly crap. Mike Brown is a pretty good coach.

And I had Gibson on my fantasy team for threes, so this really shouldn't come as much of a shock to anyone...just look at his percentages.

To be fair, they did give him some opportunities to play prior to his injury (and since). He had the starting position for a few games, and played solidly, but did nothing to justify why he deserved to start for the rest of the games. In the period leading up to his injury, he played 10 games, with a field goal percentage of just 28%. And from downtown this was lowered to just 10%. What I am trying to see, is that the door was left ajar for Shannon. He was given a small window of opportunity, but he failed to push it wide open.

Then he got really unlucky with his injury, as during the time he spent out, Mike Brown began making changes to the rotation, allowing Pavlovic and Gibson to pus their windows of opportunity wide open and get key roles.

Also, in fairness, a first round draft pick does deserve more opportunities, don't get me wrong, but I feel that there were other factors deciding why he wouldn't play.

So I think the reason that Shannon Brown is not playing as much as he wanted come down to: lack of long stretches on the court, failure to take full advantage of his time on court, bad luck.

I`m not sure, but I think I heard a good amount of boos when Bill Russell honored Mike Brown the trophy.

As for Gibson, he was incredible. When he hit that fifth three, that place just erupted. It was awesome seeing the Cavs fans going crazy from the front row to the parking lot.

I remember at last years Draft when I saw the Cavs picked up Shannon Brown, the first thing I thought was a sick duo with him and LeBron. Everyone was saying Brown was one of the great steals of the draft, but I didn`t hear about him at all during the regular season. I`ve seen Brown play, and I can only hope he gets more playing time next season.

Boobie is very very good for being so young. I'm sure that playing with future hall of famer, future greatest basketball player of all time, LBJ has something to do with it though.

Can't mess with Cleveland. Down will go the Spurs. Mark my words.

You can't really cite his percentages when he wasn't given a consistent stretch of playing time to prove his worth. In the ten games you were referring too, Brown barely hit the court, and when he did, it was in garbage time.

How about the games Brown played in during March? In just nine games of action and 9.3 mpg, he averaged 5.3 ppg, 0.7 rpg, and 0.3 apg on 47.4% shooting. That included a performance against Sacramento where he put up 8 points (3-4 FG), 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and a block in just 10 minutes, as well as a 14 point (4-6 FG), 2 rebound performance against Toronto in just 13 minutes.

With games like those, I think it's really unfair to suggest that Brown didn't take advantage of the opportunities given to him.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Then he got really unlucky with his injury, as during the time he spent out, Mike Brown began making changes to the rotation, allowing Pavlovic and Gibson to pus their windows of opportunity wide open and get key roles.

I do think that bad timing and bad luck has a lot to do with Brown being not in the rotation. However, going on what Brown said himself, you've got to assume that there's a lot going on behind the scenes that we're not privy too.

The Cavs' majority owner, a Michigan State graduate, is a big Shannon Brown fan, so if there really was some sort of conspiracy to not play Brown, it'd be the head coach's doing. I'm not saying I know anything for sure, but all the clues seem to suggest that Mike and Shannon Brown don't get along.

So you know, I'm not trying to say that Brown does not deserve playing time, merely trying to understand why. He has shown flashes of really good play, but perhaps Coach Brown does not want to make that risk in the Finals.

For Shannon Brown's sake, I'd like to see Larry Hughes and/or Pavlovic get injured next season. If Brown doesn't get his chance then, he never will. And if he gets his chance, he needs to make it count.

I'm not complaining. If you want to give us a "Lebron's Pippen" please do.
You can have hughes, gibson, and brown. We'll settle for Garnett. Not a problem at all.
