I would actually seriously like to see Larry Hughes traded for some expiring contracts or something, and then put Shannon Brown into the starting lineup. It will be a risk, but he managed to score 48 points in 83 minutes in 8 games in March - that's 28 points per 48 minutes. It's not heroic, but given more time, say 30 minutes per game, I think he could average a good 17 or so points per game.

Back to the point regarding getting rid of Hughes, the Cavs lineup could be this come next season:
    PG Gibson/Snow
    SG Brown/Pavlovic
    SF James/Marshall
    PF: Gooden/Varejao/Marshall
    C : Ilgauskas/Varejao/Gooden

That's a good young team, just needing a dominant low post player, who perhaps they could get in a trade utilising Larry Hughes.

I'm a fan of Eric Snow, I have to say. He is way overpaid, but he does his job well - he defends the ballcarrier well.
Conversely, Larry Hughes averaged 19 points per 48 minutes (15 in his 37mpg) which, to be frank, is not good enough. He averaged a steal and 4 boards and assists, too, but he should be better, especially given his contract - which is another issue. It is worth over $60 million over 5 years, meaning it's a long term commitment for the Cavaliers.

It not seems that Danny Ferry's primary moves weren't that good: Larry Hughes ($60 million over 5 years), Donyell Marshall ($21 million over 4 years), Damon Jones ($16 million over 4 years). That's around $21.5 million per year spent on players who are not living up to what they should have been in Cleveland. The money could, and should, have been spent in better ways.

He was coming off a career year, I believe. I know, as a Wizard fan, that we didn't want to over pay him and we were glad that we he didn't want to stay with us because of how much he was asking for.

<div class="quote_poster">GArenas Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">After watching the first two games I stand by the opinion that these finals are just a learning experience for the Cavaliers. Cavs are not a championship squad yet, they still lack a shooter and although Gibson is developing into one he's not there yet.

The Cavs made a mistake signing Larry Hughes. Cleveland required a shooter and Micheal Redd/Ray Allen were on the market that year. With the money dished out to get Larry Hughes, I'm sure they could've signed one of these two studs. Although, even with Larry Hughes they made it to the finals, to beat an elite Western Conference team on the big stage of the finals. A shooter is neccesary.

Spurs are just too good of a squad for Cleveland to handle. Duncan has been here three times before (although in 1999 his cast was quite different) and it seems as though Duncan does better every time he is in the finals. Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker are playing great basketball along with the great role players such as Bowen, Horry, and Finley they have on that squad.

Cavs won't come back becuase the Spurs are not the Mavs. Spurs walk and play with a certain confidence that the Mavericks lacked in the finals last year resulting in Dwayne Wade ripping them apart. Spurs will continue to shut down LeBron forcing him to be left with no options other than his role players.

Spurs have this series and judging from last night, these finals may very well be a sweep.</div>

The Cavs made a serious campaign effort to sign Michael Redd. They tried to sell him on playing for his hometown team, and LeBron sent him a video tape trying to convince him to sign on. Michael Redd was their top choice to pair with LeBron, but in the end Redd decided he wanted to be the franchise face for his own team in Milwaukee.

I don't think Ray Allen had any serious intentions of leaving Seattle, and I don't recall Cleveland making a big push for him either.

Larry Hughes was option three for the team, and they ended up overpaying for him when they lost out on Redd.

Michael Redd = stupid......he could have had rings, endorsements, etc. with Lebron.....instead he's stuck with the bucks and will most likely never win anything there.

So they offered it to Redd, and Ray Allen, first. Then the next guy in line was Hughes and they didn't want to come back empty handed, so they offered him more than he was worth, so he wouldn't stay with Washington.

In hindsight it's likely a decision Redd is going to regret, but at the current time Milwaukee had a lot going for them. His team had more success than LeBron was having at the time. The team had the #1 pick, and they had signed a top free agent, Bobby Simmons. Unfortunately, Simmons has never been able to contribute due to injury.

Man Cavs are so bad... shows how bad the Eastern Conference is. Spurs get to play the easiest team in the finals lol.

Michael Redd seems more like a great #2 guy than a #1 guy. Even if the Bucks were fully healthy, they'd be a low-seeded playoff team at best. Larry Hughes's stats were severely inflated playing in that run-and-gun system with Arenas. They got a lot of transition buckets. I know Hughes is injured right now and all, but his intensity level looks different. He looks like he doesn't care anymore. He actually cared when he played in Washington. I guess he's just another Jerome James. Play hard for a bit to get a contract then go back to being mediocre (of course James is a worse case) like he did his whole career.

I think some Cleveland fans may have gotten their wish. Larry Hughes is inactive tonight leaving Eric Snow or Daniel Gibson to start at the 1. With Daniel Gibson's must recent performances it is very probable that he will start. Lucky break for Cleveland.

Lucky for Cleveland? Are you nuts, this is horrible, Parker will destroy Gibson. Gibson isn't good enough right now to defend Tony Parker, who will exploit and do what he wants with the ball. He already does that, but at least Hughes was able to do a bit better. Snow. while being an OK defender, isn't an offensive threat. LeBron is gunna have another shameful night because as far as I'm concerned, this series was decided when the Cavs signed Hughes.

At least this first quarter was watchable. 18-16 Cleveland after 1.

55-50 San Antonio after 3 quarters. Both teams are playing horribly offensively.

Wow, Bowen fouled Lebron in the act of shooting. No call, anyone surprised?
