We'll see on Gibson. He had a great series, but I don't think we can judge him on that, yet. I do agree though, he's got the potential to be a wonderful steal for the Cavs.

Unless Tony Parker, Ginobli and Duncan randomly decide to retire, the Cavs have no dynasty. The Spurs are going to be around for another 4 years. I think Duncan may end up with 7 or 8 rings by the time he's done.

yes but the Heat have Wade and the Cavs have Bron.....and from the looks of it Gibson is looking like he might be a steal........</div>
Gibson had a couple of great games but he hasn't arrived yet. if he starts next year and averages 15 a game, MAYBE he can hold claim to second best player on the team, but even that doesn't make him an allstar. I agree though that we're going to see a lot of LeBron and D Wade over the next few years. The Cavs will likely bow out this year but make a trade and come back stronger than ever next year.

However, it ain't over til Dwyane Wade's wife sings as they say, so anything can happen.

EDIT: Mamba i see you were thinking the same thing about Gibson

What will the Cavs trade, though? Their trade aspects are about just as valuable as the Lakers, arguably. Odom and Bynum might be a little more valuable. If teams don't think the Lakers can make a decent trade, why would the Cavs be able to?

EDIT: I found my answer. The Cavs have a competent organization.

That is the Cavs' problem - huge contracts that still have a couple of years left, and the players who have them are not star players by any means. I would expect to see a very similar Cavs lineup next season, with perhaps an MLE signing.

The Cavs a dynasty? No, that is not going to happen, unless LeBron gets a consistent PG, like Bibby and a young dominant Center. The east is going to be way to strong to have dynasty, Raptors, Magic, Bulls, Heat, Wizards are all still in it. Also, how about the teams that got good lottery picks, Celtics, Hawks, Sixers. There is so much young talent in the east, it is not safe to call the Cavs a dynasty wating to born. Also, people are forgetting this team cruised the 1st 2 rounds. They were really challenged against the Pistons. But, the Spurs are going to be way to much for them.

You don't get it, 1 player isn't going to win several titles, you need a supporting cast. All the dominant teams are team efforts, they're not 1 man shows. Spurs, Pistons, Mavs, and Suns are all full of talent, they're the dominant teams now, in the 90's it was Bulls, Rockets, Lakers and Jazz, all were team efforts, late 80's early 90's it was Lakers and Pistons. Not one team can dominate with 1 player carrying the team. LeBron carried this team, 29 straight points for his team in game 5, no one scored for the last 18 minutes except LeBron. There's only so much 1 player can do, if he don't get a supporting cast, he'll feel fatigue sooner or later. Then the Cavs are nothing without King James.

I didn't mean they are going to finals, but a team like the Sixers can give the Cavs some trouble, if the Cavs do become a huge contender and if the Sixers make the playoffs in a 6-8 seed. They can give the Cavs some truoble. I just felt like they cruised to the east finals, that is not going to happen next season.

that's the thing....Miami's supporting cast will improve this offseason and they still have Wade and Shaq..........that's enough......and the cavs will also be better through experience and additional free agents or draft picks.....while Lebron can, should, and will get more help (draft, trades, FA) I don't believe he needs a "scottie pippen"

The Cavs had one challenge in the playoffs, and that was the Pistons. Their first two series were pretty much automatic wins. The Wizards were without Arenas and Butler, two All-Stars, and the Nets were just a horrible team. Their only test so far has been the Pistons, and I admit, they came up huge.

Anyways, before we throw the word dynasty around, like many have already said, the Cavs have to win at least one. As of now, I've heard many comparisons of this Cav squad to the 2001 Sixers team. One superstar can get you far, but you'll need more to win a championship.

This team is more comparable to the 2001 Sixers than a dynasty. To be considered a dynasty you need to constantly win and have 3+ championships within a span of certain years. The Cavs aren't even close to that you.

Dynasty? Ha. That makes me laugh a lot. The Cavs are far from being a dynasty. To me, a dynasty is a team like the Lakers back in the threepeat days, the Bulls of the '90s, and most recently, the Spurs. Those are dynasties. Talk to me about a dynasty when the Cavs win a few titles in a row, or three in five years, something like that. Until then, they're not even close. Plus, they're in the East. Not that that should be a knock on them, but it is. The competition out East is nothing. If they were out West, the likelyhood of them getting this far is not high. Plus, the East is still getting better. The Raptors are definitely a team on the rise. The Bulls are going to be a team to watch again next year, as that young team gets better and better, year in and year out. The Magic have a great big to build around. The 'Cats have a ton of young talent. In general, the East, to say the least, is very wide open still. There's so much young talent over there that any team could compete for ECF in any given year. To call the Cavs a dynasty now is simply ludicrous.

nah seriously though Okafor and Felton are "nice" players but that's about it and Tyrus Thomas doesn't have the court skills to be a 20 + player in the NBA.</div>

idk i see felton beign a allstar player, and okafor has a nice defensive game, and idk i said tyrus thomas because he was the 2nd pick last year for a reason, im just saying examles i dont think the bobcats unless tehy get a allstar player are giogn anywhere anytime soon, im just saying, im sure no one would have though that reed would be a allstar calibar player scoring 57 points in a game (twice in a season i believe) after his rookie year. but i think everyoens underestamiting the bulls a little they still have a nice core in hinrich deng and gordon

Shaq will be 36 by the time the playoffs start next year, and they are basically capped out for the next three years.

I see the Heat going nowhere for a few seasons.

I agree completely. Shaq is becoming a guard-able player now, he just doesn't have that dominate force like he used to. Wade might soon be in the same situation as LeBron is right now, with him being the one and only and having a couple of players won can help him from time to time.

Gibson is not a steal, I hate when people see a rookie, or a second or third year guy, who has one good game or 2 or one series, and everyone thinks BAM, he is so good and that is a huge steal. A steal is a guy like Arenas, or Monta Ellis. Those guys proved themselves to be worthy steals. Gibson is a combo guard, who can be a very inconsistent shooter, and will slowly build confidence. For Gibson, IMO, to become a good player, needs to either become a good SG, or improve his passing and dribbling skills, to become a solid PG. (Which will never happen.)

Why is it, all of a sudden a dynasty if you make it to the finals. The Cavs will not beat the Spurs. They will get better, but so will the Raptors, Magic, Bobcats, Celtics, Sixers, Bulls. I think if the Bulls found a legit down-low scorer, they would be in the finals, becuase they would of beat the Pistons, and killed the Cavs. They are if anything, closer to becoming a dynasty then the Cavs, if you can even put the Bulls of Today and the Cavs in the same sentence as Dynasty.

However, I will give props to the Cavs for making it here, after all they are the second best team in the East, and they worked hard to get where they are.

I think the Cavs also did everyone a favour by possibly splitting up the Pistons for good, and making the East now a wide open and more fair conference for teams to compete and win.

Didn't you say they'll upgrade in the offseason (with experience or free agents) as well? That's not going to happen (aside from a few minor moves). Walker and Shaq's contract is killing them.

    Shaq is almost done.

<div class="quote_poster">Mamba Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Like the Nuggets laughed at the Lakers, I laughed when I read this. Dynasty? That word is thrown around way to often. The Lakers were a dynasty, the Spurs are a dynasty. You need more than one player to be a dynasty. If LeBron doesn't get help around him, his body is going to take a beating that it won't be able to endure over the span of seasons, eventually cutting his productivity short. If the Cavs can get some help around him and preserve his body for awhile, then towards the end of his career, he'll be more productive. The start of a great team? Maybe, but a dynasty? Not even close. Ask me again when they've won 3 rings in the span of 5 seasons.

Who's to say that they will dominate the east? The Wizards have Arenas, Butler, Jamison, and a young stud in Blatche (they'll only get better). The Magic have an ideal lineup around Howard who is going to dominate the league, the Raptors have Bosh and Bargnani. And did you forget the Western conference teams? The Blazers, soon, will have Oden and Roy, The Suns in the future will have Amare and Barbosa. The last two dynasties have revolved around big men, something the Cavs don't have. Say what you want about the run and gun offense, but it hasn't won a championship in recent memory. Big men are still the most important part of a championship team.

EDIT: How in the world did I forget the Bulls? Especially if they get Kobe Bryant, that team will be unstoppable. I'll take the Bulls in two years over the Cavaliers in two years (if there are no major changes to their rosters).</div>

When I said dynasty, I didn't exactly mean they were going to win 3 championships in a row, but if they're going to be controlling the east for years and be able to improve every off-season while LeBron James just plays crazy, I think they'll have the best chance in the East to win some championships.

The Wizards won't dominate in the playoffs, if they keep playing defense like they have this season. Who knows if Andray Blatche will still be here next year? He'll be a free-agent in the offseason and there are lots of people we need to sign, but I'm hoping he stays. He can be a really good player in the future. With Orlando, if you're going to knock on the Cavs for only having LeBron and nobody else, then you might as well say the same for Dwight and the Magic. The Raptors and the Bulls would have the best chance in fighting for dominance in the East, but we'll see how that works out. I just think that with LeBron being only 22 and leading the Cavaliers to the Finals, you can't deny that this team will only get better and BETTER as the years go by.

Obviously I haven't forgotten about the West teams, but strictly I was talking about the Cavs dominating the East.
