<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">TEHERAN - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday launched a new verbal attack on Israel, saying a ‘countdown’ has begun that will end with Lebanese and Palestinian militants destroying the Jewish state. In a speech to mark the 18th anniversary of the death of revolutionary founder Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the president said last summer’s war between Israel and Lebanese militant group Hezbollah started the process. ‘In Lebanon, the corrupt, arrogant powers and the Zionist regime did all they could in an unfair 33-day war. But after 60 years its (Israel’s) greatness fell apart,’ Iranian media quoted Ahmadinejad as saying. ‘The countdown to this regime’s destruction started through the hands of Hezbollah’s children,’ he said in a speech to visiting foreign guests in Teheran. ‘We will witness the destruction of this regime in the near future thanks to the endeavours of all Palestinian and Lebanese fighters,’ he added. Ahmadinejad sparked outrage shortly after coming to power in 2005 for saying that Israel should be ‘wiped from the map’ and then repeatedly predicting that the state would disappear. Iranian officials have expressed bewilderment over the uproar caused by the comments, saying he was merely restating one of Khomeini’s central beliefs that the Jewish state was doomed to destruction.</div> <div align="center">Source: Khaleej Times Online </div> Your thoughts?

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best? Not much to say, if Israel gets invaded and feel they're going to be defeated they'll probably start launching nukes right into Iran.

If Israel had kept its promise by giving the Palestinian's their land... this day would never come. Its pretty stupid to have conflicts with an Islamic country when MOST of the countries in the Middle East are Islamic. ...And I find it even dumber how United States decides to support Israel.

I'm biased since I'm Israeli. But I don't see how it's stupid to protect your country when you have enemies all around you, right? If an Arab country was sorrounded by Jewish countries, you wouldn't say the same that, would you? Israel never promised the Palestinian's anything, other than the Gaza strip and they got that. Israel isn't "the Palestinian's land". I'm not going to start arguing about biblical references and religious things, because I don't want to start fights like that about religion, but why do you think that Israel is the Palestinian's land and not the Jews' land? And why do you think the USA is dumb for supporting Israel? They're one of the only (if not the only) democracies in the Middle East, they're the most advanced technologicaly, medicaly and are the only Western civilization in the Middle East. The USA need representation in the Middle East, so who do they pick: Israel or an Arab country that probably hates the USA anyway? Anyway, Iran can say all they want. The Hamas and Hezbollah can continue terrorizing inoccent people, but they need to know that they will get hit back, hard. Hopefully, one day we can reach peace, but till then, Israel is staying on the map.
Like my iranian friend has been saying all along; Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a freaking nutcase, and don't be suprised if he starts wars and ethnic cleansing projects.

I don't like Zionists but won't get into that. Would be nice if Muslims Jews and Christians could all get along

Ahmadinejad's a joke to a lot Iranians too and its becoming harder and harder to believe that he represents the mindset of most of Iran. The dude's become a caricature almost. There's more than enough blame to spread around over the problems in the Middle East. All I'll say is that, the sooner Arab countries acknowledge that Israel is not going anywhere, the sooner their own demands will be heard and peace will be within sight. Not to say that its mainly their fault, but at this point that seems to be the biggest obstacle.
