I would like to hear your opinion more than any other person since you love both sides.</div> My anticipated reaction will have to wait. As of now I'm mad at Billy and it would be hard to re support him at UF. I'll still support the Gators basketball team of course, but not sure how much I support Donovan. Again I need to stew it over a little more, just like when I was pissed that the Magic took Billy D away from the Gators.
Hey Billy last time i checked no one pointed a gun at your head and told you to sign... $27.5 Mill sounds very nice dont it... You lost all the class that you built up over the years...
dot dot dot I don't keep up with offseasons that much, but seriously.....WTF!? Please get Stan Van Gundy please.
I just came to realize..yes donovan is a douche..but lets look at the bright side. NO MORE BRIAN HILL!!!!
BREAKING NEWS: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">With the departure of Billy Donovan, the Orlando Magic have resigned former coach Brian Hill to a one year deal</div> ^ jp. But anyways, if you guys sign either Stan Van Gundy or Rick Carlise, I'm pretty sure you guys would be better off than Billy Donovan, simply because of the NBA experience these coaches have already had. Donovan doesn't have any NBA experience, so it's tough to detirmine how well he will be able to handle the NBA level. He could just be another one of those great college coaches, but a bust in the NBA like Rick Pinto

NO MORE BRIAN HILL!!!!</div> That's what I said! Hopefully we get Stan Van Gundy and he does well. I wonder if he is offended since he's just our Plan B?
<div class="quote_poster">dallasdude Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I feel bad for Dwight Howard. He deserves better than this.</div> I would feel worse for Dwight if we didn't have Stan Van Gundy ready to take over this team. Donovan has no proffessional coaching experience so while he was the "sexy" choice, Van Gundy is the more conservative choice. SVG has coached Shaq so hopefully he can help Dwight develop into a dominant superstar big man. He knows how important it is to get your big man the ball in the paint, something Brian Hill either didn't understand or refused to accept. I think Howard can thrive under Van Gundy and improve drastically from the Dwight that everyone saw last season.
So whats the go? Has he been let go or what? Some reports are saying that he has been released, but others are saying that he has signed the contract and is still trying to get out.

Now all of the negotiating and delay is because of his contract. I guess they aren't sure whether to just let him go or penalize him for leaving after signing such a big deal. Also, I guess part of the agreement is that the Magic are telling Donovan if he wants to leave the team, he'll be banned from coaching in the NBA for the next five years. (Source) It makes things more interesting and I'm curious to see how long this will all play out for. Hopefully we can get rid of him soon, hire Van Gundy, and end this mess.
As a Gator fan I would love for it to say he can't coach in the NBA for the next 5 years. As a Magic fan, let him coach in the NBA if he wants to within the next 5 years. He will inherit a crappy situation and you know our guys will get up to play whatever team he coaches.
