Man, Thorn is a great GM. To say that Krstic would of single handedly helped the Nets is a big statement. If I were the Cavs, I would think, oh man, they think we suck, and that Krstic is so good.

Krstic is a great player, he would of helped, but I dunno how much. He isn't a game changer, IMO. I don't think he could stop LeBron from driving, or anyone else. If Throng thinks so, I guess maybe they could of.

Good of Frank to give Detriot credit though.

What would Nenad have done against the cavs? he would have just gotten pushed around by gooden and Z. Thats a completely idiotic thing for Thorn to say. Its not like Nenad would have stopped lebron from scoring, or made any difference defensively whatsoever. Yes maybe he would have added a couple 18 ft. jumpers and some inside baskets, but New Jersey was just outplayed by cleveland.

I think he is trying to give some praise to Krstic, because he probably wanted to help a lot and rehabbing and not being able to play can really be frustrating.

Obviously change one thing and an entire series can change, but my guess would be that Krstic wouldn't have stopped the Cavs from winning the series.

The Nets roster is built around players in Kidd, Carter, and Jefferson who have proven a number of times that they can't quite get it done. They're such professionals that they still make the playoffs, play competitive ball, but honestly, is there anyone who follows basketball who sees these guys as having a run in them as currently constituted? The only thing you can say univerdally in sports is that age will kick in for every player...

Actually Nenad Krstic was better then just hitting a few 18 foot jumpers. The guy played with heart every single game out there and took alot of the pressure of the big three. Boki Nachbar played great, but Krstic would have helped much more to the team and even the front line. He would have matched up greatly with big Z. So I completely think that your statement was false and ignorant. You can't assume things unless you actually watch the Nets play.

We never got blown out. And missing your 3rd best scorer and 2nd best rebounder definitely hurts. Any team would be feeling the pains of that.

how would he have matched up greatly with big Z? Illgauskas is MUCH bigger than Krstic. They both are more perimeter orientated big men, but i think big Z still has the advantage there. Im sure Krstic would have made a difference, but i think its just as ignorant to say that the Nets definately would have beaten the cavs just because they had one more player who isnt even an all star. The better team won the series.

Illguaskas is only 2 inches taller than Krstic, but Krstic has proved he could be a solid defender against perimeter jump shooting big men, like Udonis Haslem. What I think is even more ignorant is you thinking that Krstic would get man handled by big Z and Drew Gooden. If you have never seen the guy, then don't make comments like that.

Um, accutually he would have been manhandled by both of them. Kristic would have been a factor in the series. But, not enough to beat the Cavs. The Cavs had really good defence and just outplayed the Nets. Also to say the Cavs Superstar out played the Nets All Star.[IMG]

Please we lost cause we couldn't find buckets when he had to. And seeing how we had only really 4 guys out there scoring cause of Jason Collins, having 5 players who can score would've picked part the defense. Nenad is the reason Carter, though having good numbers, had it much rougher this season. The Cavs pretty much packed in their bigs so neither Vince nor Jefferson could penetrate. They didn't need to stay at home with Jason Collins, and even though Mikki was hitting shots, he didn't move as well off the ball as Nenad.

Like I said, we never were blown out, and we were out rebounded. Seeing how Nenad is a 16/8 player, we definitely were hurting. Anyone denying or trying to marginalize this is delirious.

And the Nets probably wouldn't have gotten the cushy 6th spot if Washington hadn't lost Butler and Arenas at the worst possible time. Injuries happen.

I'm not really following Thorn's logic though. I suppose he said that to justify keeping the roster together, but he has to realize that the East was unnaturally weak this year. While the majority of the teams in the conference are growing and only beginning to reach their peak, the Nets are tied down to aging stars and their window of opportunity is closing. Sure you might've gotten farther this year, but that's no guarantee for next season or the one after that.

Why not? Teams like Boston, Milwaukee who flopped and should have gotten a top 3 picks, bombed in the lottery. The best players in this draft are still going to the west (I don't count Atlanta cause whether they choose Horford, Wright, or Conley, they're not going to be any more than 8th seed contenders).

Every year some guy like you says that our stars are aging. But guess what? Every year Kidd plays as well if not better than the year previously. Anyone see his numbers this year? They're damn near career numbers. I mean seriously, where is this "aging" you're talking about? Carter? Put up career scoring numbers. Jefferson? He's still in his mid 20s. And who's to say guys like Nenad, Boone, Wright, Adams, and Marcus aren't going to get better?

What about Free Agency? No free agents out there that if they moved that could significant damage. Carter is about the best free agent out there. Him or Billups, whoever you consider better. Outside of Carter moving away from us, which doesn't seem is going to happen, Billups going to Orlando, Bobcats, or Atlanta isn't going to change anything. Orlando gets better, but then Detroit goes to the cellar, and that'd be a one out, one in exchange.

So tell me, why doesn't fielding the same team as last year not work next season? News flash, the East has been weak since 2000. Nothing is going to change next year unless three of these players are traded to the east: Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, and Dirk. I would include Kobe, but I fear that it would cost any East team too much and we all know Kobe can't go that far himself.

Sooner or later VC and Kidd will both slow down and their production will drop. Its a fact. Maybe not this year or the year after but eventually it will. So why not trade them while their stocks are both high, and get some talented young players that might not be as good now, but will have a 10 year window to winning a championship, rather than 2 or 3.

But hes soft and wouldnt provide the interior defense against gooden or illgauskus, or james that the nets needed to win.

If you've seen him you would know he's not soft. Guy had to be stopped from punching Jamaal Magloire in the face.
