Wow, if we could do that without losing a key player, Thorn is truly a magician. But that's nearly impossible, because obviously, those guys are worth a lot. Personaly, I don't think we have the pieces to trade up. But, maybe something like sign-and-trade Carter to some lottery team for their pick and 2 fillers? Unlikely. But anyone else on our team isn't really worth that high of a pick. I think we should just take McRoberts.

Brandon Wright is a terrific player and would love to have him on the team. He would also settle our problems for a big man in the post. I up this happens without giving up someone too good.

I rather have Horford than Wright. Wright might end upas the better player in the future, but we need a player who can contribute now. Wright is still too skinny and has little offensive skills.

I hate to be cynical, but don't you think the Nets' window for winning it all in the near future has pretty much closed? Carter's on the out, Kidd's only getting older, and Jefferson's not exactly the type of player who's going to put this team on his back and take them to the promise land.

If the Nets really have title hopes, then maybe it's not so crazy to shoot for a player like Brandan Wright. I played against him in high school, granted when he was an underclassmen, and I agree, he is weak and is definitely underdeveloped, but he's got an amazing feel for the game, an intangible that you can't teach. Forget that he's a long 6'10" with great athleticism, his game is just amazingly smooth and fluid for someone as massive as he is.

Basically, he's raw now, but four or five years from now, I see him playing in the All-Star game, before any other player outside of Oden and Durant at least.

However, with that said, I think the Nets are still in a great position where they're at to get a legitimate starter at the four in Josh McRoberts. He's gotten a lot of flack because the expectations were too high for him and because he's not cut out to be a go-to-guy offensively, but with his athleticism and passing skills, I can really see him thriving in the Nets' system.

We were a tough rebounder away from beating the Cavs. We gave up 20 offensive rebounds some games and we still remained close. The fact that we went as far as anyone against the EC Champs means that we're as close as anyone in the east to being Finals Contenders.

Jason Kidd getting old? People has been saying that for years and he had one of his best, if not best, statistical productions last season. Carter on the outs? News to me. Everything I read said he's coming back. Richard Jefferson knows his role and is still young, injuries aside. With the summer off to recuperate from really freak injuries, he'll be fine. Nenad will be fine. Mikki wants to come back too. Marcus, Boki, Boone? Yeah they'll get better. To me that's 8 guys that are solid guys that can contribute on a nightly basis. 9 if Jason Collins serves as nothing more but a big body with 6 fouls.

So I ask you, is our window really closed? If ours is closed, then so are the Pistons.

You speak of about Brandon Wright's skills as if Horford doesn't have those. He's long. He's athletic. But he's stronger and has more defined skills. If we have Jason Kidd, then we have to take him instead of Wright. No point in developing him when Jason is going to be old and rugged. And Wright, to me, doesn't strike me as a guy you'd trade Jason Kidd and start building around. I'm sorry, but at best, he'll be the next Camby, which is very good, but not a franchise player.

As for McRoberts, expectations were not that high. Most people said he'd be a less athletic Webber, and him at his best showed that. Good passing, ball handling skills, but obviously wasn't the rim jammer that Chris was. He isn't athletic as Chris was, but athleticism was still a plus. His problem is that his mentality is weak. I'll give him a by cause he's still young, and I was a bit more timid as a kid, but same time....not a big fan of him. He doesn't seem to have strong hands either, but I'll give him time.

If there is anyone in this draft I can have, outside of the terrific twosome, it's Al Horford for the Nets. I'll stick with that.

The nets are just a decent team in a pathetic conference, and an even more pathetic division. Even if they did beat the cavs and pistons, they would get swept by the spurs, or be out in 5. The best thing this team can do is trade Kidd and Carter for young guys and picks and just rebuild. They have the pieces to make some very good moves, and i think its a waste to keep this team together just to fall short in the EC semi finals. It seems VERY possible to trade up in the draft for the nets and get guys like Horford, or conley, or Jianlin. For this team, younger is the way to go.

Sorry, but no. If you've been looking at any of the reported trades available for Kidd and Carter, it's worse than dismal. Lakers wouldn't even give us Bynum for Kidd. Yes. Andrew Bynum, a guy who has proven nothing but loves fruit loops. Jackson called out his work ethic and consistency and this guy isn't worth the consummate professional and at worst, the 2nd best point guard int he league? Ok, whatever. Carter? The best I saw was Mobley and Livingston. Yawn.

You say we need to make some "very good moves." Rod Thorn isn't trigger shy and I think it's safe to say that there are no "very good moves" to make. Superstars never get anything close to equal value, and in our case, far below it. So we'll have to make it to the finals and see our chances, and with Nenad and a possible Horford player, we definitely have a shot at the Spurs if we somehow kept our bigs in Mikki and Collins for a versatile tandem to guard Timmy, Amare, Boozer, etc. Our five to match a western's five would be good if we stopped playing Jason for so many minutes and got a rebounder. That and Carter stops disappointing in the playoffs. Those two events are more likely than trading Kidd and Carter for whatever you believe is out there for us.

Here's the thing. And I've been saying this for a while now. I just don't see Thorn try to make moves for the Nets to win soon. He's looking at Brooklyn and what would be the best for that situation. I believe Kidd is done in New Jersey despite what is said. Look for a news breaking trade involving him in the weeks to come. And as for Carter, his best years are with the Raptors and I don't see him doing more than what we have already seen. As much as he wants to be the main guy... wanting is far from actually doing it or being it. I feel that it would be in the best interest of the owners to rebuild and be a force by the time they move to Brooklyn. Scenario's for the Nets? Try to get the most out of a Kidd and Carter trade.

Kidd and Carter works, why would you want to break that up? These guys are both potential triple double threats every night, the Nets problem isnt that these guys cant carry them furthur than the first round, their problem is they dont have a reliable big man.

If I were the Nets, I would try and move Jefferson for a high draft pick and go after Al Horford or Brandan Wright etc., or package and go after a legitimate big man, like Marcus Camby or somthing.

The problem with people say "get the most out of Kidd and Carter" or "trade Kidd and Carter for young prospects" is that it's not that easy. Tell me what deal is out there. Have you seen them? They're absolutely atrocious. Mostly expiring contract and maybe one or two guys that have potential but carry a ton of risk. Livingston with his injuries, Bynum and his work ethic. I'm sorry but I cannot trade Kidd for that. I mean, I'll pull the trigger if the team is a contender cause he deserves that but not to a dismal team with very little playoff success possibility.

I'm sorry, but I'm just tired of people saying "trade for youth" or "trade for this.." but doesn't list any specific trade in mind. Anyone can say that. I can say trade for a big man that rebounds and blocks shots. But really what does that mean? Does that mean trade for Elton Brand? Or does that mean trade for Francisco Elson? Both rebound and block shots but the difference is who they are.

You New Jersey fans hold on to kidd and Carter way to much. I garuntee theres better deals out there, its up to THORN to find them, not let the other teams throw crappy offers at him. How about trading Kidd out west to teams like seattle, portland, or Dallas? I bet Dallas would give up terry and one of their bigs for Kidd. There are a lot of scenerios that can be explored, including 3 team trades. I think Carter is leaving whether hes traded or not, so i think this team should just get the most for him while they can. Maybe Carter could be shipped to Atlanta for Smith/Williams, Claxton, Sheldon Williams, and a first rounder. Just a couple ideas.

If I do this, it's only because Kidd deserves to be on a contender, though Dallas can't even get out of the first round being a 68 win team. Terry and one of thier bigs? Can you be anymore ambiguous? From the Nets point of view, outside of Terry and Dirk, none of their bigs are interesting to us. Diop? Good defender, but him coupled with Terry? Get out of here, that's horrible trade. Dampier? Fat contract, getting older, and isn't that great. Mbenga? I'm not going to even start. Fact remains that all these guys don't even rebound as well as Kidd despite being half a foot taller. Jason Terry sucks. I don't know if you knew that. He's not a point guard, averages less assists than Carter. I don't want him, but if I do that trade it's because we owe it to Jason. But that aside, that's not a good trade at all.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I garuntee theres better deals out there, its up to THORN to find them, not let the other teams throw crappy offers at him. </div>

You must not know Rod Thorn. Rod is one of the best GMs in the game, at worst top 3. He found the Marbury for Kidd trade. KVH for Mutombo. Zo, Eric Williams for Carter trade. If there are good trades out there, HE WOULD'VE MADE THEM. That should be CLEAR AS DAY. He is not a sit down take things as they come GM. He go gets things and if there is nothing there, he can't make it out of nothing. You seem to think that he can magically call up the Suns and be like Hey Kidd and Carter for Amare and Nash and they'll agree to it. No! That's not what's happening. You have to look at his track record and realize that if there was something there, he already would've done it. But there isn't and there's no point in making a move just for making a move. Why don't see that?

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Maybe Carter could be shipped to Atlanta for Smith/Williams, Claxton, Sheldon Williams, and a first rounder.</div>

Look at Atlanta's roster. Isn't clear they're developing talent right now? If they wanted a veteran player till they got older they would've kept the Terry, SAR or Walker/Harrington core. Moreover, you really think Carter is worth all that? Hah, give me a break. Carter will not garner two former lottery picks, and another pick that probably will be a lottery pick. Sorry, but better though.
