<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Looks like Odom is upset about the possibility of him being traded to Indy. I?m glad to hear this. Odom+Bynum+1st for J.O. is a lot to give up in my opinion. Maybe this gives us an edge and Walsh won?t pursue Odom in a J.O. deal; maybe this crushes the deal altogether? Either way, Odom wants to be a Laker: ESPN: Sources close to Odom indicate the 27-year-old would be ?quite unhappy? if he?s sent to the Pacers in an O?Neal deal ? and that it would take a three-year contract extension from the Pacers (or any team that makes a move for him) to get Odom ?on board? with a trade. No word yet on how that might factor into Indy?s decision making. The lanky lefty has two seasons left on his contract after this season runs out, at $13.2 million and $14.1 million. Packaging Odom and Bynum would get the Lakers close to O?Neal?s salary-cap number ? $18.1 million if the trade happened before the draft and $19.8 million if it happened after July 1 ? but at least one other low-salaried Laker (such as Sasha Vujacic) would have to be included. The Lakers are expected to resist Indy?s efforts to expand the deal to include Jamaal Tinsley, even though they need a point guard as much as anything, because plugging a non-shooter like Tinsley into Phil Jackson?s triangle offense holds little appeal. If you?re thinking, incidentally, that Odom and Bynum is a lot to give up for O?Neal ? even without a draft choice thrown in ? you?ll surely recall that the Lakers had an opportunity to trade for Kidd in February without including Odom. Bynum and Brown?s expiring contract would have been the Jersey-bound cornerstones of that deal ? creating a Bryant-Kidd-Odom trio ? but Bynum still had an untouchable tag at that point. That?s no longer the case, according to L.A. sources. http://getgarnett.com/blog/?p=253 </div> Could he ruin the Jermaine O'neal trade??? IMO If Lamar starts going public about being traded and showing frustration it could hurt the Lakers chances at landing a big name player? If Lamar comes out and says ?I dont like this team, or I dont want to live in that city? teams are going to look elsewhere. If I was an owner and some guy said ?I will be unhappy being traded to that team?, i would have to think twice before bringing that player aboard.
Yeh I agree, however is he unhappy to the extent where he is going to put off other teams or is he simply stating that he is unhappy that he may be traded in the first place?
I hope we dont trade odom i like him and i think he will be huge next season for us if we keep him!!!! We still can get JO without trading Lamar!!!
I'm glad he made those comments, because the Lakers cannot afford to let him go in this deal. To be honest, I'm not even sure why Indiana wants him in the first place. They already have Dunleavy & Granger at forward, where Odom fit in? Kwame Brown makes more sense for Indiana's rebuilding movement, plus he can play minutes at center for them. If Kwame isn't working out, simply let him walk next summer, or work out a sign & trade if necessary. As far as this effecting the deal, I don't think it hurts the chances of it getting done. If Indiana wants Odom for the long term plan, then obviously they won't have a problem extending him for 3 years when he current deal is over. If Odom was just a short term fix for them, then they could careless about his demands.
Well, obviously Odom won't be happy moving to Indiana. He has a record deal here, and he loves the city. I honestly don't see him causing such a problem that the Pacers would reject the trade. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise? Maybe the Pacers will get scared away from Lamar, and want Kwame Brown instead? I've heard they love Andrew Bynum, so I'm still pretty sure a trade will go down.
If a thread like this pops up about Kwame Brown or Bynum, I don't know how the Lakers will be able to trade for an elite big man.
Odom + Bynum + 2007 First for Jermaine O'Neal? J.O is a good player dont get me wrong, but he has never really been outstanding. I think that it is a bit too much to give up, at least take the first round pick out of that deal, or swap Odom with Kwame Brown. Jermaine would help the team greatly, but I think the Lakers could get more value for that deal. Funnily enough, Odom actually has better career numbers than Jermaine O'Neal has: Lamar Odom: 15.8ppg, 8.6rpg, 4.6apg (Over 7 Seasons) Jermaine O'Neal: 14.4ppg, 7.8rpg, 1.4apg (Over 10 Seasons)
Odom has better numbers because Jermaine wasn't played much at all during his rookie seasons, but has improved greatly. Odom hasn't improved much at all from his rookie season, he's basically just the same player. But numbers don't tell the whole story. Jermaine O'Neal's presence alone makes him worth a lot more, plus, his impact in a game is a lot greater than Odom's
Well if u exclude the 4 season that JO played off the bench in Portland, his stats would be better than Lamar's..
Lamar Odom talking up? His word has little to no say in this organization compared to Kobe's. Phil, Mitch, Jim, and Jerry have to pick between Kobe and Odom and who to move? That's a no brainer. Odom needs to pipe down because he hasn't exactly been mr. consistent and mr. 2nd option since he's been here. Maybe if he was productive he could have a say in where he goes, but he's not.
Yeah I think Odom+Bynum are to much for a great, but aging player. Your giving Indiana a player they can use now and one that could potentially be someone special in the future.. What would it take to get J. Kidd right now?

I don't think he's in any position to talk either, after the way he's played the past few seasons, but you have to appreciate the humour in the situation. Kobe threatens to leave if they don't make a trade and that trade might be messed up by Odom threatening not to leave.
This just strengthens both sides opinion on odom, indiana dont want him and the lakers wanna keep him... vlad, kwame, bynum, #19 for JO

IMO he hasn't been playing like an all-star maybe like about 10 games and thats all the rest he probably had crappy games choosing between Kobe and Odom is easy you trade Odom. But i really don't no why Pacers want him with that large contract they should really aim at butter-fingered big man Kwame Brown.
So giving up Odom and Bynum is too much for Jermaine? You think our team would be any better with KG and Kobe? We'd still have to give them up, leaving us at: Farmar Kobe Walton Garnett Mihm That lineup is still trash, any deal we make is dependent on a third deal being made to bring in another impact player. Kobe/Odom won't get us out of the first round, Kobe/Jermaine won't get us out of the second round and Kobe/Garnett won't get us out of the second round.
^^ Well, I was guessing if there was a KG trade, they Lakers would look more like PG: MLE/Vujajic SG: Kobe/Evans SF: Luke/Cook PF: KG/Turiaf C: Kwame/Mihm Not to mention Phil Jackson at the helm. If this team could get more wins, than an injury ridden 2006-07 team, and get to 4th or 5th place so they would play the Rockets or Jazz I think it could go either way, depending how things mesh the Lakers would have a good chance of getting to the 2nd round.
