i never agreed with the "he never won a Super Bowl..." BS. basically what im reading is that it automatically Brad Johnson, Trent Dilfer, and Kurt Warner all better just becuase they won SBs.
He's not saying uif you win one you're a great but if you don't it does say something about not being able to get your team over the hump. I wouldn't say it's evrything tough as many good points have been brought up against that theory
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>He still never won a SB, which automatically eliminates him from being the best ever in my mind.</div> Football is still a team game, last time I checked. You need all 25 of your starters to play well enough to get to the big show. If Marino was on any of Montana's teams, Young's team or Elway's teams, they would have all ended up as Superbowl Rings for Marino. Ditto for the Patriots' wins... He just never had enough help...
Even Brett could of had a few more with a little more support. Especialy when guys like Brett and Dan hit their 30's they were still good enough to win it all but they started becoming dependant on teammates

Thats true Marino would have won a SB as a niner in the 80's but he didnt, did he? By year 10 I would have left Miami personally 10 years and mediocrity all around me, I would have jetted. I will give Marino that he is a very loyal player which you do noit see everyday but he never got the job done. The worst part was theres not much he could have done. I am telling you though I think Montana and Brady are both better players becuase of theuir wins in the SB.

I have seen a lot of teams win Super Bowls, but I have never seen any individual player lift a Lombardi Trophy all by himself. Here's an interesting "what if." What if the Bills had drafted Marino instead of Kelly?

I have 2 guys tied on every account, and the fact is one was a champ and one wasnt. Thats the tiebreak. Thats all championship is to me. you go from 50/50 to 51/49. Same for HOF. Thats why swan being in is a travesty. By #s he was a 0/100, and bs super bowl preformance made him a 80/20 guy. too much of a turn around

You admit that Marino would have won a Super Bowl on the 49ers, but since he played for another team that makes Montana and Brady better players. So, your saying that Montana and Brady are better because of a circumstance which they had nothing to do with and that was being picked by the team that decided to draft them. Answer this honestly. Do you see Montana or Brady winning the Super Bowl with the Dolphin teams that Marino played on? As a Guardian of the Gridiron, I dismiss your argument for Montana and Brady's being greater than Marino because you have based it on a factor which none of the participants had anything to do with. NEXT!
If we are talking Marino era, you have to mention Elway.... talent wise Elway and Marino are neck and neck. If you are talking about a player that shined in the spotlight, nobody has better post season numbers than Montana. As far as Brady goes, he led a great team but was never dominant like Montana, no comparison there. Brady can be put in the same class as a Bradshaw, good leader of a great team. Montana has to take it overall, he was an amazing QB and seemed to get even better when the pressure was on.
