Remember a month or two ago when all of us Magic fans were huddled around our television sets watching the last game of the Pacers season that determined whether or not we would get the seventh seed in the East? Indiana had a chance but Ike Diogu missed two crucial free throws and the Pacers ending up losing which gave us the eighth seed and an extremely tough first round matchup. We all wanted the seventh seed because we had far more success during the season against Cleveland than we did Detroit and many of us were confident we could take down the Cavs. Well let's fast forward a few months later. Cleveland is now in the Finals facing off against the Spurs and we got booted out in the first round (although some of the Pistons games came down to the wire). What would have been different if Diogu would have just hit those two free throws? How far would we have gone?
Cleveland would have eliminated us, which based on Brian Hill's success rate in the playoffs means we would have been swept. Legitimately I think we would have won 2 games, but if we win 1 game, Brian Hill says we move on..... I also think those 2 games coupled with the easier sweep by Detroit would have pushed Detroit over Cleveland and Detroit would be in the Finals right now. So we can all thank Ike Diogu so that we don't have to watch Detroit/SA again!
naw idk. Clevland had a pretty easy jounrey to the eastern conference finals. First, the injury depleted Wizards which at that was lead pretty much by former magic Deshawn Stevenson. Lol! Second they STRUGGLED through the older Nets whos biggest front court threat is mikki moore.... I think the Magic coulda beat the Cavs, or at least losing 4-3 or 4-2. The magic won 2 outta three games aginst the Cavaliers in the regular season, and the game they lost was by 3 points! Plus the Magic yes...got swept. However excluding game three lost by 8 points at most. Which really couldve changed if Dwight and feloow teamtes could hit some free throws. thats my opinion at least.
I think that you guys would have won 2 games tops in the series. Most of it due to Brian Hill's coaching experience and whether or not Dwight would get involved in the offense or not. But I don't think anyone could really stop Lebron on the Magic, let alone the whole Piston team.

Like Walrus said, they had a very easy road to the Eastern Conference Finals and they still struggled at times. I give LeBron and his supporting cast credit for taking down Detroit, something we couldn't do, but we matched up with them better than the Pistons did. I know it's hypothetical and we'll never know but something tells me that those two free throws would have drastically changed the Eastern Conference playoffs.
thank you swish! i mean i just dont understand how everyone is saying that if lebron wins this, he'll become legendary. But no one discusses who he played to get there! I mean dont get me wrong, im rootin for the cavs too. lol But it just doesnt seem liek it wasnt that tough untill the pistons.
I'm also rooting for the Cavs because I hate San Antonio but I feel we would have had a shot against them. Also, LeBron fans, I'm not taking ANYTHING away from him. His performance in Game 5 was insane and he is shaping into a dominant player. All I'm saying is that we match up well against them and I feel we would have been much more competitive than we were against Detroit (which was pretty much as competitive as you can get without winning a game... ).
Okay, so LeBron had one dominant game. Don't say he's becoming a legendary player. The Spurs are going to beat them.

LOL I know it might not make sense but he is my favorite player. He's fun to watch but he's not gonna become the next MJ and all that bull they say of him.

Thing is though there will never be the next MJ so long as people keep comparing so-and-so TO MJ. When MJ was coming up no one was comparing him to anybody. He wasn't the next "Magic" or the next "Byrd" or the next "whoever". He was a player in his own might, and although it may take a while--okay maybe a very long time-- till we stop comparing new stars to Jordan, that will be the point when we finally have the next player of the generation. Kobe, Wade, and LeBron are pretty much already doomed because of the constant comparisons, and especially in Kobe's cases where he started rising when Jordan was still playing and people weren't ready for the new face of the league, or Sport rather.
