Very surprised to see Gordon atop the list...while Gordon has an outstanding offense game, I believe Collison is the better overall PG on both sides of the court...</div>

I agree that Collison is the best point guard out of those players. However, Drew Neitzel's definitely misclassified by Rivals. He split his time this season between both guard positions simply because the Spartans didn't have a legitimate two-guard on their roster outside of Maurice Joseph, but he's about as pure of a point guard as you'll find and will go back to playing the point full-time next season with the addition of Chris Allen. I don't think he ever even really defended the two-guard position all season anyway. Usually they'd put Travis Walton on the opposing team's biggest offensive threat in the backcourt, which nine times out of ten was a two-guard.

With that said, I think the list should look more like this -

    1) Drew Neitzel - If this list is based on their worth in the collegiate ranks and not their NBA potential, then I think Neitzel deserves this without question. He was the entire squad for Michigan State last season. There really wasn't one other player on the entire roster who could have cracked the rotation at a school like Florida, Kansas, UCLA, North Carolina, etc., outside of Neitzel. That, in itself, has to be worth something considering that the Spartans wound up making the tournament field.
    2) Darren Collison
    3) Ty Lawson
    4) Scottie Reynolds - I expect him to run the offense for 'Nova this season with Nardi gone, so I'm listing him as a point.
    5) D.J. Augustin
    6) Ron Steele (provided he stays healthy)
    7) Jamont Gordon
    8) Tyrese Rice - I like Rivals' inclusion of him; very underrated point.
    9) A.J. Price
    10) Wink Adams

I didn't include any freshman, because I'm not as familiar with their games yet as I am with the returning players.

I agree with both of you. Collison should be ranked ahead of all the players they listed. He makes an impact on both sides of the floor and, down the stretch, he was the Bruins' most important player. Should be interesting to see how he plays this upcoming season.

Drew Neitzel should be ranked as a PG, though. As should Mario Chalmers, IMO.

Ty Lawson should be up more IMO. I mean he was a beast as a freshman for UNC. Now one more year expierence and big Tyler Hansborough returning for another year looks pretty damn good to me. lol

I kno this is off topic but I've rarely seen OJ Mayo play, only in the McDonalds All-Star game, and he didn't impress me at all. So in your opinion where would OJ rank in that list, just to give me a gage of how good he is and what to expect from him in college

I think that with all things considered, Lawson's about as high as he should be at #3 or #4. He's not as polished as point guards like Drew Neitzel and Darren Collison at the moment. He shows flashes of being one of the best point guard in the game, but he really lacks consistency in his leadership. Just look at North Carolina's tournament collapse against Georgetown. There was a lot of blame to be passed around in that one, but the finger pointing for that performance definitely has to start with Lawson's lack of poise running the show.

Well, like I said, I'm nowhere near as familiar with the high school guys as I am the college guys, but I think it's important to remember that the McDonalds All-Star game was just that, an All-Star game. He did do pretty poorly, and on the flipside Mike Beasley did really well, but then the next week down in Memphis, they both competed in the Nike Hoops Summit (boxscore), and Mayo played out of his mind whereas Beasley struggled to even make a freethrow. That just goes to show you that you can't get a read on these guys in those kind of settings, especially not just off of one time.

But with all of the positive commentary on Mayo from all of the usually reliable scouting experts, you have to be excited about his game. From watching him go off in Memphis first hand, I can definitely see where they're coming from. My only concern with him is that he's too shoot-first minded for a point guard, and at Southern Cal, Tim Floyd's going to give him the reigns of the Trojans' offense right off the bat, so I can sort of see him developing into more of a two-guard than a point out in Cali.

As for the sort of productivity you can probably expect from him, I think he's probably going to be the highest scoring incoming freshman out of this class, but we're not talking about Durant type productivity. Players like Kevin Durant come around once a blue moon. In fact, the only freshman in memory who I'd say have even played anywhere near as well in their freshman seasons are Carmelo Anthony and Magic Johnson.
