<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">After so many years and so many titles (six), Robert Horry still has a favorite championship and least favorite championship ring. Both were won with the Rockets. "My favorite ring is the ugliest ring," Horry said. "That's the year we swept Orlando (1995). I don't wear it because it's too ugly. But that's my favorite championship, my favorite ring. We came from the sixth seed and had to do so many things, had so many obstacles we had to overcome. "That thing is so ... if I brought it out here and let you all see, you'd say, 'Damn, is that a championship ring?' For us to do all the miraculous things we did that season, if you look at the ring you'd say, 'Damn, y'all got hosed.' The previous year was great. It was a great-looking ring. It had 'Clutch City' on it. It was a really nice ring. That second ring, we got hosed." Horry won two championships with the Rockets and three with the Lakers and is seeking his second with the Spurs. "If you had to go by the way it looks, my favorite (ring) is that first year with the Lakers," he said. "That's the best out of all of them."</div> Source: Houston Chronicle
Hes going to have seven rings, thats got to put him with some good company. Would he deserve to be in HOF? No he hasn't been a great player but all the clutch shots and 7 rings, damn. He deserves some kind of recognition.
^Yeah, tough call. I find it amazing Horry`s career. 6 rings (probably 7), and it`s not like hes a big star or anything, hes just so key in the clutch.
Thats why I dont like it when people bring Championship Rings into discussions about "who is a better player", because as we know, Robert Horry has never been a standout player, and he is on the verge of a 7th ring, so by that logic he would technically be one of the best to have ever played the game. Championships are a measure of great <u>team</u> basketball, so I dont understand why they are brought up in arguments debating individual talent.

And one can say he might owe one/two-of-those ring(s) to MJ's retirement as well.

He was always a role player, however I would argue that he's one of the best if not the best role player ever to play the game. He's a great defender with a tough nature, very clutch, plays with heart, and does not need alot of recognition or a huge contract to play the game. He's the ideal guy you want on your team to surround your superstar.
