<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> One possible destination for Ron Artest this summer? Houston, to be reunited with his former coach Rick Adelman.

I'm told the Rockets have been quietly putting out feelers about Artest, and the price might be right. I hear it would cost the Rockets Bob Sura (he has only $1 million in salary protection next year), Kirk Snyder, Vasilis Spanoulis and this year's first-round draft pick. </div>

Hmm.. it seems Adelman is starting to affect some interesting changes. Although Artest is know to have a bad attitude, I think there is little risk in this trade. I would like to see Vspan PLAY next season though. But if we have to trade him to get Artest, I might pull that trigger.

I would be all over this.

    Yao/Deke/Tsak
    Hayes/Artest/Howard
    Battier/Artest/Novak
    T-Mac/Head/Bonzi
    Rafer/MLE/Lucas

Wow only Sura's contract, Snyder, Spanoulis, and 1st round pick for ARTEST??

Go for it!! But at the same time, I would love to see Lewis play here.

Only problem is it looks like we are selling our future for a one year rent since he has an opt out thing. But maybe one year rent is all we need to get to the champsionship especially with
    C-Yao
    PF-Artest
    SF-Battier
    SG-Mcgrady
    PG-Alston

Wow, we'd have 2 superstars in Tmac and Yao. And also, 2 defensive specialists in Battier and Artest.

Just gettin Ron Artest isn't enough. We still need to overhaul our roster. I'd love to see some younger players in here. But I like the fact Adelman isn't wasting any time with this. He's already thinkin big. Artest alongside Tmac with Bonzi is DANGEROUS! This team could be a serious threat next year. The only thing I'm skeptical about is our 1st round pick w/ 3 players for just Artest. That might be a little too steep. We'll have to see.............

I'd also like us to look at Andre Miller. He's definatley a true point guard, but can also get his own shot.

NOTE:I don't see Howard or Rafer playin for us next year.

Agreed. I wouldn't mind the trade if Artest was a sure team player or was known to have work ethic like your typical player, but he doesn't. He's seflish, a drama queen, and as far as I know, he always wants to be the main guy. He can't be the main guy in H-town. This is Yao and T-mac's team. Skills-wise, he's great. Attitude-wise, no way.

everyteam needs a headcase..............Artest = great defender, good rebounder, and a great 3rd option, and mental and physical toughness......................those are things this team needs...............no way in hell you turn this down because he brings "baggage"...this team needs baggage more than a continental airline flight..........we're too damn soft.

Agreed........I'd do it! But you have to atleast consider if it doesn't work out, because we'll eventually get nothin for him. Let's face it, if Artest comes here and f%ucks up, then his career is over. I mean the guy was reportlely suicidal.

He has mental toughness? You're kidding right?

What Rock4life said is what I've been trying to say, if it doesn't work out, we gave up our youth, V-Span, Snyder and a pick for some headcase who just wasted our time.

Two negatives about Miller though: 1) Not a good shooter anywhere outside of 15 feet.
    2) Has a big contract (I think he's around $10 mil a year)

I do agree though that he's an upgrade over Alston but for $10 million I think we might as well make a run at Chauncey Billups in free agency.

Don't get me wrong, Billups is the ideal point for us. But Andre Miller can definatley get the job done. Maybe even Luke Ridonour from Seattle............

Nothing against Miller, but if we're going to take over $10 million a year on his contract, why not try to sign Chauncey Billups or even Mike Bibby for $10 million. Both are better than Miller IMO.

I would love Billups or Bibby here, but why not get Miller. We have 2 superstars already, and in my opinion, we need a good distributor who can create easy shots for Mac and Yao. This is where Miller fits in good. We need a true point guard who can run this team. We don't need another superstar players who take shots away from Yao/Mac. Billups/Bibby/Miller probably get paid the same, but I would prefer Miller, a true point guard. Miller fits in better as a Rocket instead of Billups or Bibby.

Billups, Bibby or Miller would all be GREAT options. It's not unreasonable to think we might not be able to afford Billups or Bibby. Miller is a little cheaper, but he can get the job done.

Hell No! Billups would make us an instant contender. His size, quickness, and ability to hit big shots is exactly what we need. Miller was my 3rd option if we couldn't land Billups or Bibby.

Billups is the only of those three who I think is a championship dealbreaker... while I don't like Ron Artest personally, Houston is probably the only team on which he can help deliver a championship next year. He'll likely come cheaper than Lewis would, as well, and with McGrady and the new, Hakeem coached Yao, you have enough inside-out threat that even reasonable offensive players like Artest and Battier will be able to take less shots, score more efficiently, and play their typical, stifling defense. The money you save not signing Lewis migt be enough to net Billups, especially since Houston is such an attractive destination.

    How does this sound?

    PG Billups
    SG Battier
    SF McGrady
    PF Artest
    C Yao

I will freak if we manage to land Rashard Lewis, Chauncey Billups, or Ron Artest without losing Shane Battier....then I would try to trade Battier for one of the other 2 star players left, lol.

Well my guess is that the Kings would be happy to do a Battier + filler for Artest swap.

I guess the Rockets might be able to do a sign n trade for Billups (9-10 mill per year) of Rafer + Howard, but doesn't seem like an upgrade for Detroit.

wow this would be amazing if it happened but...
why would the kings take that? they have to be smoking something good to take this trade.
