Chris Sheridan: If Detroit was going to make a trade like that, they'd want Amare Stoudemire back, not Marion. But Amare is one of the guys on their radar this summer, and they'll part with Sheed and another piece (I think it would be Hamilton rather than Tay) if they can get a young big in return. Rip brings you 20 points a night and Sheed can give you 12-7-1.5 but you guys would have to change your game a bit. How could you say no to that lineup? He's young, athletic, and CRAZY talented. Why would Phoenix trade him? That would be the worst decision in NBA history. Marion should be untouchable too
Ultimately one or the other is probably on their way out due to money. I don't think Phoenix can afford to pay them both their desired money and still have the other pieces around them.
I don't agree with Marion being untouchable though. I think you could find a way to be better without him.
I'd prefer to see Amare WITH 'Sheed on the Suns, an inside/outside duo. 'Sheed's toughness and rebounding would be useful, and his 3s already fit our style. Just today there's another rumor that the Suns want KG and are offering Amare. All summer we'll probably be hearing various Amare trade rumors, I honestly don't know why they'd want to unload him, maybe they know something about his knees that we don't. Or they may just want to save the money or dislike Amare's attitude. I have no idea what's going on!
