    "Kirk Is Untouchable"

    <u>Hinrich 'Untouchable'</u>
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Jun 9 - Chicago has notified Portland that point guard Kirk Hinrich is "untouchable" in trade talks, so you can scratch off the list any of those Zach Randolph for Kirk Hinrich scenarios.

The Blazers have not, and are not close to, making any trades. The Blazers are in discussions with several teams, but general manager Kevin Pritchard said most teams are in the "feeling out" process and are not ready to deal.

Pritchard said if the Blazers do indeed make a deal, it wouldn't be announced until 48 hours before the draft at the earliest. -- The Oregonian </div>

Hinrich is an amazing player at such a young age. And I feel he could make the All-star level one day. Peronally I'm glad to hear this, what do you guys think?

I'm neither happy nor sad. I don't think anyone should be untouchable. I think anyone is expendable at the right deal. But judging from the deals we are in, I guess it makes sense to not deal Hinrich.

I don't know how much better he's going to get. I think he's basically at where he's going to be.

It's not groundbreaking news, I knew Pax and Skiles are in love with this guy. He is their pointguard for the foreseeable future.

Hinrich is only going to get better over time because he has one of the best basketball IQs in the league and works hard to improve his game overall. He's unselfish and one of the youngest leaders in the sport. He's one of our three best players in my honest opinion and I see him as one of the best point guards in the NBA right now, but not near the best, just yet. He can still reach that plateau because he's only 26 and on the rise, but he's going to have to keep working hard. Also, nice sig, Walrus.

kirk isnt a player who stops getting better. neither is Gordon or deng. every year these guys step up their game in one form or another. so to say Kirk has reached his full potential is an unfair comment.

Thats why its hard for pax to consider trading Gordon Deng or Hinrich for anything less than an awsome player. because these guya are on the verge of being awsome.

I agree with you on this, he is really seen as the golden child in the eyes of Paxson/Skiles so this news isn't the least bit surprising. However, I don't think he is ever going to get to the level of an elite point guard. He's a great player, but I wouldn't declare him "untouchable."

I agree that Hinrich shouldn't be labeled as untouchable. No player in the league is untouchable because everyone in the World has their price. However, for those that believe he's peaked at 26 you remind me of others that believed Stockton and Nash peaked before they both climbed to the top.

Don't forget Nocioni on that list. Those are basically his "four children."

I completely agree with you. His stats arent breathtaking. But man if some of you guys havnet seen him play, you should. He's just so smart with the basketball. And i feel the Bulls wouldnt be able to function without his court leadership. I dont believe Duhon could do it, and Gordon is a scorer first.

As much as I love Kirk, he really hasnt improved THAT much since his sophomore year. I could be (and hope) that I'm wrong, but how much better can he really get? He's put up the same statline (however he has improved his FG%) for the last three years.

But it's nice to know we'll have a stable PG situation.

Having to defend the the best 2 guards in the league makes it very difficult for Kirk. He does use a lot of his energy on defending bigger guys that Gordon can't.

I think once you get rid of Gordon and have Thabo locking up 2 guards, you'll see him focus more on the offensive end.

Point guard requires the most stability of any other position. If you roll with on one point guard for a while, you need to keep him...The Point Guard calls all of the offensive plays, times the offensive plays, is the main passer, and alot of times your best ball handler. If we gave up Kirk (which will not happen), our offense would be slowed down a couple of notches for "adjustment" purposes. Even if we got Steve Nash for Kirk Hinrich, the bulls would need time to figure out the way he thinks in every offensive situation.

I can definitely see why Paxson is making him untouchable. He would destroy the team's chemistry if Bulls lose their PG.
