This kid doesn't get out very much does he? He has no social skills and took incredibly long pauses between his responses.

He was rude and looked down at the reporter, what a brat. I'll give props to the reporter for acting so professional inspite of the douche she was interviewing.

This kid is home schooled, right? That's a horrible way to educate kids. They'll often come out of it with a lot of book knowledge, but it really hurts their social skills. I knew a few home schooled kids in college who were just like that kid, just very sheltered, naive, and akward in conversation.

yeah i had a home school kid in my basketball team once and he really strange socially, he also always tried to look and play like iverson and was very cocky. i would never home school my kid because they need social interaction to learn, i mean the education system is just instatutional childcare really and the way we grow into adults is by interacting with other people, pretty sad when you think about it, this kid will never have a girlfriend or ever have kids or anything, his mind is so limited that he cant interact with other people.

For someone who knows so many words, he sure finds it hard to talk...

Hahahahahha, oh man, that was akward. Yeah, I'm against home schooling too, from what I have seen and heard, those kids just don't come out right. First of all, their parents probably aren't educated teachers, and the limited social contact they get with other kids doesn't develop their social skills.

I would rather be a horrible speller than have that kid's social skills. If you can't interact with others, you're going to have a pretty ****** life. I would hate to have been homeschooled as a kid. Sure, he won some money from winning the spelling bee but I'd rather be an ordinary teenager than win that money and be a nerd who has trouble talking to others.

First things first, I thought the reporter was gorgeous.

Second, this video literally had me DYING. The kid is so terribly awkward, it's not even funny. The funniest part is the look on his face when she says he got the word wrong and he proceeds to cut her off and repeats the word again. Wow, he's lucky he doesn't go to a public school, because if he interacted like that in a public school, he would be picked on non-stop. I don't condone the possibility of him being picked-on, but dude needs serious work on his social skills.

But yeah, I thought the reporter was quite professional about it, even though some parts I'm quite sure she was ready to burst out laughing.

I find all these spelling-bee kids to be incredibly nerdy/awkward. I have this perception that they all just sit around for weeks reading dictionairies and practicing words. Learning about prefixes and word origins should be learned yes, but it shouldn't be to the point that it consumes your everyday activity for hours on end. I think a lot of those kids are just going to end up being booksmart, with very minimal street smarts or social skills.

Home School kids are geeks!LOL.I would never home school my kid that will never let him interact with other kids and probably make him and outsider when he actually talks to kids his age.Anyways, that kid is lucky he doesn't go to a public school or private school he would of gotten beat up with what he said only a geek will say that.LOL

You mean cause she botched his last name? The kid kept cutting her off, and talked like a robot half the times. She even said at one time "you're making this hard for me" cause he kept giving quick answers when it's supposed to be a conversation type interview. Obviously, that's too much to ask from a kid who barely has any conversations with people outside of his home.
