Just trying to get this straight -

    150 kg = 330.6 lbs?

You're a beast! I was even on the weightlifting team in high school, and well, I don't want to admit my max on the deadlift if you think 330 lbs. is "nowhere near great," lol. I didn't do a lot of deadlifting though, because it made me paranoid that I'd slip up and hurt my back.

Are you entering any competitions over there in Sweden? You'd be competitive over here in the states on the high school circuit.

And did you ever choose which school you're going to in the States? I'm sure one of those Cali schools you were looking at has a weighlifting program you can get involved with.
    </div>

Well, I'll be looking for colleges/universities abroad for the fall next year, and I'll definatly be checking California, Florida and also Australia more than any other place (I like it hot and english-speaking).

As for competitions, it's not even in my mind. There isn't many powerlifters in my gym, but from what I have seen in other gyms I've been to, my lifts pale in comparison to others (on the other hand, they were all older than me).

Actually, as I was deadlifting today, an older guy walked up to me and suggested that I might try to compete just for fun. He told me he was 60+ of age, competing in the 67.5 class, and placed second in his last contest, deadlifting (iirc) 230 kgs, squatting 190, and benching 120 or something. What a beast. And he wasn't that big either.

You should check out Tulane or another Southern Ivy if you want a school where it's hot. It's plenty hot down here. [IMG]

Yeah, for your age you'd be competitive. Weightlifting is a sport where age is really important, so you shouldn't be scared off by seeing guys a lot older than you lifting a lot more.

That old man sounds like a freak, but his numbers are awkward. 120 lbs. = 264.6 lbs., yet he deadlifted 230 kgs., which is 507.1 lbs? That just seems out of proportion. I max out at around 350 benching in a single-rep, but around 300 single-rep deadlifting (don't know the exact # I'm at now... haven't deadlifted in a long time). I guess it's just more of an American thing to focus on benching growing up.

I had that Apple Jacks cereal for the first time in over a decade a few days ago. Strange I always forgot about it and then suddenly got the urge to pick up a box.

My PB for deadlifts is 90kg, thats 198.4lbs, which I think is alright, considering I only weigh 154lbs.

As for the PS3 debate, I'm kinda pissed off, because I bought mine for $999 (AUD) and now apparentley they're discontiuing the 60GB model, and are jacking it up to 80GB per console, and thats at the same cost too. Oh well, its not like I use my PS3 to store stuff on anyway, hahaha.

That's still BS and that's yet another reason why I'm not buying the damn thing for a few years. I still haven't seen a great game for it either. The facial models for the NBA games look like crap and there are so many bugs.

Wow, I hadn't run track for a while but I did so today (well, not really track, I was just running the soccer fields to get my endurance up) after a long hiatus and man, it felt good. The thing I've noticed though is I don't get easily tired on the track, even when I'm running at moderate-fast speeds. However, I was playing basketball last week on my driveway against my brother in one-on-one and I couldn't last for a long time and got tired really fast. That's probably because I was sprinting a lot since I tend to over-dribble when I'm facing him, but nevertheless.

Anyway, I plan to run every 2-3 days now. I miss playing soccer, and I miss having good endurance, which I'm now completely lacking. This will hinder from my excercise/weight gain plan, but I hate not having good endurance so I'll just compensate by eating a little more than I have been recently. I've been working out for the past 2 weeks or so and eating more/better, and I've managed to gain about 5 pounds so far, so I think I'm on the right track.

Here's hoping I don't lose this determination once September rolls around.

Do treadmills help your speed and endurance? I know it doesn't have as much effect as regular running does, but it does help, right?

I'm not sure, I've never been a fan of treadmills. I'd rather run the track.

I used to run track too, but I quit the track team so I didn't really see the point, considering we have a treadmill at my house. Anyways, I always work up a better sweat on the treadmill, and it just seems like a better exercise to me

You can challenge people that you want so you can pick people at your level. Or you can just battle people here that you know made an account there.
