Well, the old boring Vikings are back - the flash is definitely gone, not that this is a bad thing. Here are a few of my thoughts: - The first team defense looked great. 16 minutes of play, 0 completions by the Raiders. - The first team offense looked marginal. They had trouble moving the ball on a horrible Raiders defense. - I was underwhelmed by the highly touted left side of the offensive line - either that or our RBs can't see the field very well. - Tarvarious Jackson looks really good. In terms of mobile QBs, he looks like he has quite a few good moves. I'd like to see him polished up a bit as a passer. - As a passer, Jackson holds on to the ball just a bit too long. He is an unpolished rookie, though, and his release should get faster as he gets to know the system better. - Why are we putting McMahon, a QB with the lowest completion % among active QBs, as the #2? Couldn't we find someone else to backup Johnson? I'm guessing Jackson becomes the #2 by years end if Johnson gets hurt. - Our defensive line looks awesome. Erasmus James was throwing Robert Gallery around like he was a rag doll. - JT O'Sullivan looks like he belongs in an 80's big-hair rock band. Cut the hair, then cut JT - he's aweful. And my most insightful prognostication: - Randy Moss wishes he were still a Viking. He showed up last night, but Brooks didn't get him the ball. When he was pulled, he was pissed that he didn't get a TD back in the metrodome. I'm guessing he gets cut after this season with the Raiders - and I'm hoping he comes back to Minny.
I agree with Erasmus. I always hoped Green Bay would draft the Badger. He's got an explosive first step and will only get better. Jackson will for sure be their #2 guy. To bad for Sullivan I think now officialy every team has given him a shot. That intentional grounding probably sealed his fate. Well at least he's got his mullet
