<div class="quote_poster">Iggy Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Got my hair colored today. </div> That looks pretty cool, although I'm not into that kinda hairstyle. Since you're asian, I'm assuming you have straight hair (correct me if I'm wrong though). If I had straight hair, I'd honestly grow it out and flaunt it, but that's just me.
Allright, I need to get something off my chest, and I don't feel like making a new thread, so I'll just vent on here. I had never been that much of a religous person growing up, but whenever I went through tribulations, I always prayed to God and what not. Oddly enough, the first time I went through serious adversity, I stopped praying to God and I eventually got past whatever I was facing. However, other adversities eventually came into play soon after, and it made me feel as if not believing in God was the reason. I started 'praying' again, regardless of the fact that I was merely doing it for selfish reasons. However, my adversities did not really go away. In fact, they got even worse no matter how much I prayed. At this point, I have a lot of health issues that I do need to adress, but it always seems as if I can never find a complete solution, just a bunch of trial and error sequences. Basically, I'm at the point now where I'm conflicted. On one hand, I would like to be able to pray to God, and listen to my mom when she says that if I start praying, my health concerns will go away or be under control. On the other hand, I feel that even if there were to be a God, it is unfair of me to simply pray on and off whenever I wish for merely selfish reasons. I don't like praying for selfish reasons, but isn't that what everyone pretty much prays for? If you pray all of sudden after you stopped 'believing', but you still go through the same adversities regardless of if you pray or not, does that mean that you praying is useless since you need to be an avid believer in God at all times for your prayers to come true? I don't want to start any religion/belief wars (I can see this leading to a NTC vs. Umair clash already ), but I don't know man, it always seems like I'm not doing the right thing by not really being religious. By religious, I don't mean hardcore-pray-from-dusk-to-dawn religious, I mean even just doing a short little prayer when you sleep, get up, and looking at Gods (my parents are hindu) and acknowleding the meaning behind them. In the past, being religious hasn't really made a difference, but in the past, I've only prayed for myself. And sometimes it's this selfishness that makes me feel as if it's the reason that I constantly have to overcome obstacles in life. Anyway, that's my religion rant. I don't see myself being religious anytime soon, but I'm surrounded by religion quite often outside from my normal social circle (my community is pretty religious) so at times, it feels as if not being religious results in the obstacles that I face. Allright, that's enough writing. I don't think that made any sense at all, and I just felt like venting. If you managed to read all that, I applaud you because it seems like something that's just confusing.
Karma, I don't have any advice for you regarding whether you should or should not be religious, that should be your own decision. I'd say do whatever you think is right, if you believe in God or even just the teachings of the bible or if you find community in religion or whatever then go ahead and be religious if thats what feels right. If you don't buy any of it and you're only doing it because your parents want you to then don't do it. If you do choose to be religious and pray it still doesn't mean you're prayers will be answered the way you want them to. I'm not religious myself but I go to a catholic high school and one of the things I've learned from religion classes and such is that your prayers may not be answered the way you want them to be. Maybe God's "plan" is for you to die, its not the answer you wanted but its the answer you got. Your faith in God can make you hateful and confused or you can find strength and acceptance in this answer. On the other hand your prayers may be fulfilled and you'll be saved and become healthy. Whether you do or don't become faithful and religious, you have to make your own luck and be strong. You can just sit back and say "whatever happens happens" or its "god's plan". Ultimately its up to you to make your own luck. Unfortunately you're a bit helpless with health issues but you still have to be strong and do everything in your power to get better.
^^ Man that movie looks so incredibly bad. Looks so lame from the trailer, it didnt even bring so much as a grin to my face while watching it. What happened to all the well constructed comedy shows? Everything is so dumbed down these days, its like 'random' is all it takes to put people into hysterics. It's dissapointing to see.
People are idiots. That's why I stick with Seinfeld, Monty Python and affiliates, and other older stuff when it comes to comedy shows.
<div class="quote_poster">Bahir Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">People are idiots.</div> Can't disagree there. Kids these days get more of a kick out of 'random humour', like what Family Guy has become, rather than stuff that has had some thought put in to it, and constructed punchlines. I mean even Seinfeld was pretty 'random' at times, but they did it the right way. Family Guy started out like that, but quickly caved into the moron generation. All it takes to get a laugh these days, is a guy walking down the street when suddenly he gets hit in the face with a ham.

Karma, whether or not you decide to be religious, don't be hesitant to pray if you need to find some strength or peace (and feel like it'll help you). I mean, obviously all religions will tell you its better to consistently pray and be faithful. But I like to think that God watches over everyone and care for them, regardless of whether or not they're religious. You shouldn't try and second-guess how God will respond to your prayer, because honestly, its impossible to know God's motivations or methods. Just do your thing and hope for the best. Plus, in the end, praying when you're down is better than not praying at all, right? Hurray for sick days.
Instead of praying to some thing that hasn't been proven, refer to reason and logic to get through your trials and tribulations. It might seem harsh, but then again religion is the weak man's ally anyways.

I can't bring my self to believe in any organized religion because of all their logical fallicies, but I often think I'd be much happier if I did. It's a lonely road to be religionless, and it's hard to find purpose when morality becomes subjective.

I don't think judging the Simpsons movie from its trailer is that fair though. They're just putting together the wackiest jokes involving Homer to attract viewers. The Simpsons has actually gotten back to form over the past few years. Not nearly as good as it used to be, but there's much better writing.
Awwwwww man I had a great time last night....me and my friend were at the Astros game and we were standing right by the section where Biggio hit his grand slam.....that place was going nuts....my friend also got interviewed for the 10 o'clock news and we got to take a picture with Ahman Green.....and I got to park for free!!!!

The Simpsons haven't been that great since season 4 in my honest opinion. Whenever I watch the rest there are few if any moments where I even crack a smile. The writing is just so horrible.
