<div class="quote_poster">Brian Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I'm taking Pre-Cal next year. Last year, I only took the graphing calculator to school for a couple of weeks because we were reviewing for the final exams, and somehow I lost it (or maybe it was stolen). Hopefully we won't need the calculators every single day of math, I don't want to take my chances anymore</div> I also lost a TI-84, after gym class I was changing and took all my books and I guess forgot my calculator and then it was gone the next day when I came back to ask the teachers if they had seen one. I was so pissed because it cost me like $120 because it was when they first came out too. And we usually use them everyday too, but I guess I got lucky because one kid at my school had like 2 or 3 calculators and he was selling them, but he only had a TI-83 so I just bought that for $30 or so.. but I downgraded. But both have must of the same things.
<div class="quote_poster">Voodoo Child Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">College doesn't start until August 23rd for me. It's August 5th now, so I've got 18 days. I had headed down there earlier this summer to compete in tryouts for the last scholarship they had with a few nationally ranked recruits as well as a few international players and a few players transferring in like myself. I had headed down there prior before that just to scope out the campus. I don't know if I'll be on the team yet, but I know I won't be getting an athletic scholarship, because they took a guy named Jon Andersen ahead of me. He was in a similar situation to my own, being a few years older than most players in his eligibility class. He played last year at a Louisiana prep school but is originally from Lithuana (or is it Latvia? who knows...). Wherever he's from, he's on their junior national team. I will still be on the squad barring injury, arrest, the unforseen, that kinda thing, but I'd have to do it as a walk-on, which I'm almost 100% I will be able to do, because the coach said in the next three years at Tulane he can guarantee at least two on the team. It's just a longer process than most. He set me up with full tuition anyway. You're technically not supposed to do that, but I got in a loophole by getting a fully paid ride academically. They put me in the Honors College too, which will be great for getting a job later on when I'm done with basketball. I'm nervous, but I'm also excited. Even if I don't make the team 'till next year, it's not the basketball I'm looking forward to so much as it is the college life. My time at Michigan was the best time of my life, and they say Tulane's a bigger party school (I can attest to that after a few weekends down there... some of the best looking girls of any school out there... hot weather 24/7... Mardi Gras... need I say more, lol...). Basically, it's be harder to not have fun in an environment like that.</div> That sounds cool, I would love to be in your situation. As I'm sure would be the case with most of us on here, I'd love to do somthing to do with Basketball, wether it be as a career, or on the same path as you're going (D1 or whatever it is). Also I had another question for you, just relating back to what you said earlier about "the hood", obviously the media hypes up the ghetto (places like Compton, 9th Ward etc.) as places where like if you're white or somthing, and you simply step into one of those districts, that you'll get shot straight away, which I mean obviously isnt true, but in reality, what are your chances of getting robbed or somthing in a place like that? Have you had any bad experiences? I mean we have places like that over here too, but they're not as full on.

Racial tensions in the south, especially, are still very high. It's not just the ghettos but the trailer parks you have to watch out for down here. There's a lot of poor, volatile people down here. If you roll down to the ghetto in a nice car, you're asking for trouble. If you're white and don't have connections or have money conversations going on, you're asking for trouble. It's really not my scene, but I've got friends in the ghetto and connections there too, so I'm down there a lot just out of necessity. You'd be surprised how much of the southern white culture is fueled by the ghetto community. That's where most drugs are trafficked through these days. You got AIM?
<div class="quote_poster">Voodoo Child Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I've got ESPN2 on in the background, and they're showing an MLS game between Los Angeles and Toronto, in Toronto. It's actually packed and looks pretty rowdy. Who knew the MLS brought out crowds, especially without Beckham in the equation for LA until next Thursday?</div> Beckham doesn't even have that much to do with it, because TFC's been paching out BMO Field since the beginning of the year. Season tickets were sold out in a couple days. I went to a couple early in the season, but I can't get to any more because most of the games are already sold out. Toronto's the most multicultural city in the world, so there's a lot of soccer fans from different cultural groups just waiting for a team to root for.
<div class="quote_poster">Voodoo Child Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">You got AIM?</div> Nah, I have a username as I used to have it for sim leagues, but AIM is like non existant down here, everyone uses MSN Messenger over here, so thats all I use these days, although I might re-install AIM, talk to some of you guys over it, hahahaha.
Speaking of aim, I just got one like 3 weeks ago and its pretty tight. What are you guys' SN? Mines is Umairballer1

311 is underrated. I've been trying to get the bassline down for this one song, and it's surprisingly complicated. The game Grant Theft Auto is underrated too... I love waking up to it. Buffalo Chicken > ____ Chicken <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Fixed that up. </div> Heh, even if they're just one of, they're an improvement upon down south. In high school, we had one Asian kid, one Indian kid, and no Hispanics. We called the one Asian kid Ming, even though he had a very American sounding name like Bob Smith or something, just because we were all assholes.
I like a few 311 songs. They have some great material, but the rest are just too common and plain for me. I was a bit disappointed once I heard all of their stuff.

Still, for every simple pop song they have like "Amber," they've got a real funky track like "Feels So Good." It's the bassline in that I've been struggling with, or rather, the solo.
<div class="quote_poster">M Two One Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Fixed that up. </div> Its a hard thing to measure, I suppose. But they're only behind Miami in terms of percentage of the population that is foreign born, and Toronto's foreign-born population isn't dominated by a single group (Miami's is mainly hispanic/latino). Plus, Toronto's in a country that backs multiculturalism as a policy. It's not the greatest city, but that's one aspect of Toronto that I really love. In terms of size, entertainment, job opportunities, etc., I'd probably rather live in a place like New York. But I much prefer the culture and diversity over here. I rented 300 so the rest of my family could watch it. Even though the exaggerations a little annoying, this movie still gets me pumped up. I never really picked up on the awesome score until Sasha posted that video in the Recommendation Thread.

They're good not great, very listenable for the most part. I've heard they're pretty awesome live as well.

I was just saying they had a Cali sound. A lot of their lyrics are about Cali too. It's odd.
my legs have been tired all day from only getting about 3 hours of sleep last night..... Yesterday and Today I've been listening to "Blackstar" for the first time in a long time and it amazes how bad both Talib and Mos have fell off....it's been about 10 years since it dropped, but how do you go from making songs like Thieves in the Night, K.O.S., and Re-defintion to Beautiful Struggle????......That albums is probably a top 10 favorite of mine just because of the amazing lyricism and dope ass beats.... As much as fans complain about wack people making wack music it frustrates me even more when artists who are capable of making classic music make mediocre albums.............. I LOVE Nas, Ice Cube, Talib, etc., but all of their latest material has been "meh" to "wack".
