Re: Random Thought Thread

Holy hell, today was the toughest school day I've ever gone through. From 9 AM to 9 PM I'm downtown with only a couple of hours in the middle of the day for a break. And to top it off, I had no money on me to buy subway tokens, so I had to go through the half hour walk from the train station to my university (with newly bought textbooks in my bag). Its going to be worth it in the end, because I'll have Monday and Wednesday off next term, but its brutal right now.

My European Politics prof has a heaaavvy German accent. I'm going to have to sit in the front rows to take proper notes.

AF, Legacy, I'm going to create a thread about the keystyle idea tomorrow (I only have an hour of class anyways). It's taking too long through PM's and it'll be easier to just get everyone's posting at the same time instead of explaining ideas over and over again. I have a general idea of what the thread should be like from Smitty, but some details need work. So yea, watch for that thread tomorrow.

QUOTE

Karma it reminds me of Nate Dogg on Exploisve..."now that I'm sober you aint that fine" LOL...I can't wait to holla at the Drunk and Hot Girls when I go to college..

lol serious, they come in plenty. They don't even have to be drunk, just go to clubs or school events, most of them want guys up on them.

QUOTE

lmao, she was on your jock about not being a gangsta? Hahaha, why did she bother contacting you then?

Nah, the thing was that when she saw me when I was wasted I had my contacts on andit was some toga party, so I wasn't wearing my normal clothes obviously. On top of that,I was really agressive or w.e cause I was wasted. When I'm not wasted I'm a much more chilled out, laid back guy, and I had my specs on today and dressed how I usually do (gino/preppy), so I'm guessing I was completely the opposite of what she had seen at the party, which in her words was a "party animal", which is what she expected me to be all thetime I guess.

That kinda shit annoys me, so I was like, seriously, I'm in University, you think I really give a shit about being gangster? She's like "i know i know but I thought you were those party animal types" blah blah. I was like, straight up, if we're in this University, we're both nerdy/smart enoughso don't even front (like she was) like you're those badass girls, cause me and you both know that your program (engineering) is the nerdiest there is.

QUOTE

Didnt she have a bunch of pics on facebook for you to see that she wasnt your type in the first place?

She had one and it looked all decent or w.e so I was expecting her to look like the photo, but she didn't really resemble it lol. Oh well.

You know what the shitty part is? I was supposed to buy my books with my friends when she called me to meet her. I actually didn't meet up with my friends to buy books cause of HER lol. We're all laughing about it though, but I'm the one who has to wake up in the morning at 7 o clock now to buy the rest of my books cause I don't have time again after that.

On another note...man, this University shit is hard. I need to readjust my schedule cause I'm still in frosh week/high schoolmode. I'm reading ahead in one of my classes (SOC 101) but the shit is so confusing, and it's only the first chapter. I'm not sure how exactly to take notes...like as far as what's important and what's not. My prof was like "just read the summary and the definitions at the end, then go back and re read the entire chapter"...what I've done so far is take notes during the summary and I'll re-read the chapter tommorow, but there's no way I can understand the whole chapter by Thursday with 4 other classes with work in it to go. Any tips on how to take notes on textbooks and stuff? I have highlighted the books, but I work better with writing notes down and stuff. My only problem is once I start writing notes I write TOO many notes cause I start thinking every other thing is important. I need to learn how to differentiate that stuff....but I guess it's a skill you hone as you go on in Uni.

Also, starting tommorow, I'm no longer attempting to study in my room. Me and my roomate are pretty tight so we just end up cracking jokes if we're in the same room together. I'm gonna end up spending 4-7 hours in the librairytommorow. This is no easy shit, no matter how easy the courses may seem. My profs are pretty cool, but some of em tend to babble on about random and non-connecting things every once in a while.

Before I go to sleep, I have to lol @ Karma going to both extremes so quickly. From crazy partying during Frosh Week to trying to settle down with some ugly chick. j/k.

What courses are you struggling with? Usually tutorials/study groups can help you out a lot if you don't understand the readings. Just remember not to fall behind in the readings.

Kobe's team is better than Lebron's. I'm tired of this "if Kobe had better pieces around him than he could do something"....Kobe has led three lower end Lakers teams with that talent. Wade took similar talent to the same height as a rookie. Kobe simply doesn't make his teammates better much, like Lebron does. Kobe is a scoring star, while Lebron is an all around superstar. Lebron is a better overall player, and has a bigger impact on the game on Kobe. No doubt that I think Kobe could have won one game with a good scoring outburst, but the team long term, over the course of the season would have finished behind the Bulls, Raptors, and Pistons last year, no doubt in my mind, if Kobe was there instead of Bron.

The Lakers were 24th in defensive efficiency, the Cavs were fourth. The Cavs play in the minor leagues as well. The End.

Small Fowards and Guards don't make their teammates play better defense. Save yourself the trouble and don't waste your time debating.

Edit-Lol, sorry about the double post.

Oh and btw, Kobe has a better player efficiency rating than LeBron. PER takes into account the most important offensive factors in basketball.

Kobe has a higher TS% as well. He was easily the better player last year, just go to basketball-reference.com

hahaha, no no, she'd be the last one I'd settle with. God, man, I'm never drinking that much again (for real), my whole system got messed after that, The Universities trick you with frosh week....they make you think Uni is all fun and easy going and shit and then you get to first day of classes and you have a reading and quiz in the next class, it sucks. My mid term for my soc class is a group assignment. I'm not looking fwd to it.

I'm not struggling as of yet, I could read forever, but it's processing the information and making smart study notes that I need to improve at. Only one of my classes (psci) has a tutorial, and as for study groups, isn't that just something you do with friends? I just got to this Uni a week ago, so I barely know 1 or 2 people in my classes, because the Uni is fricken huge. I make small talk with people in my classes and what not, but I don't think I know enough people to make study groups with for the time being.
Kobe's team is better than Lebron's. I'm tired of this "if Kobe had better pieces around him than he could do something"....Kobe has led three lower end Lakers teams with that talent.
Kobe is surrounded with Smush Parker, one of the worst point guards in the league, and superbust Kwame Brown at center. Besides Kobe Bryant, our starting lineup last season was horrible. Luke Walton is decent, but he plays no defense. Lamar Odom shows up only about once every five games, and he is not a second option. Tell me exactly how Kobe Bryant’s teammates are far superior than Lebron’s, because they aren’t.

So? Nobody is questioning Wade as player. He is a great player, but he also plays in the East and he doesn’t have to play the Phoenix Suns every single playoff series. The Phoenix Suns are one of the top teams in the league, and if it wasn’t for the screwup in the Spurs series, they could have gone on to win the championship. Something the Hornets would not have been able to do. The Suns are a top team, the Hornets are not

Really? Why don't you check back to the beginning of last season before all the injuries took place, and watch how Kobe played. Because he was getting his teammates involved, he made his teammates better, and as a result, wegot offto a great start. Also, go rewatch TeamUSA and tell me how Kobe doesn't make his teammates better or how he doesn't gethis teammates involved

Kobe is just a scoring star? Really? Last I checked, Kobe's defense was a hundred times better than Lebron's

That's a speculation. And I personally think the Cavs would be as good, or even better with Kobe than Lebron. Lebron is not the better overall player, he probably beats Kobe at rebounding and that's about it. Kobe is a better scorer and abetter defender, and he is the best player in the NBA.

Just a quick question, me and my friends were arguing about it at lunch.

If Kobe had the same exact Cavs team last year, in last year's finals. Could Kobe have won 1 game unlike LeBron? IMO, yes, He would probably score 60+, just to win one game by himself.

He couldn't score 60 on the no defense Suns, hows hegoing to do it on a defensive team like the Spurs?

Kobe and the Lakers could have gone 3-0 with the Spurs last season, but we lost by like 2 points, so we were 2-1. Kobe has torched the Spurs over the years. Here is one example...

I hate "about me" speeches. I think I look stupid standing in front of everyone reciting them my biography and stuff. But since it's about you, it shouldn't be that hard to memorize, or at least it wasn't for me.

Man my senior project is starting to shape up. I found somebody who I think is going to be my mentor. He uses FL Studio (which is what A LOT of people in the oversaturated field of beat making use) and he does a good job at getting away from the stock software sound. On top of that, my uncle, who is middle aged now, actually had a record deal singing when he was younger...it never came together but he can get me in the studio to watch producer and egineers to.

I'm really considering going into the record business, either artisticly (hey it won't hurt trying), and if not artisticly than hopefully from the business standpoint. Hopefully my academics can back me up.
