What's this new fascination with the joker? Mamba's got him in his av, Kidd changed his name to "The Joker," etc. We're talking about the comic book character, right?

As much as I love my life right now, I know I'd enjoy being young more in the late 60's and early 70's, and I'm sure a lot of you 18-22 yr olds on this board would have too. Music really imitates culture and vice versa. I noticed this listening to a lot of hip-hop this past year, and then having gone back and listened to a lot more 60s/70s music this summer, I'm regretting I didn't grow up in that era. The music isn't always as confrontational or dancable (in the modern sense), but give it a chance and lose yourself in a daydream of what it'd be like to be alive in 1967 and having those songs as the soundtrack to your life instead of Souljia Boy, and it will really make you wish you grew up in those times instead. From the Beatles to the Doors to the Mamas and Papas, that generation of music is simply one of the greatest ever, if not the greatest. I was thinking about which year in particular was the best in modern music history, and I think it's got to be either 1967 or 1991. At the moment, I'd give the edge to 1967, but there's a lot to analyze there.

That seemed like a pretty sweet time for movies, music, basketball, etc. Just seems so much more fun.
The best thing about being born in 93? I can hardly remember the 90s! Though I guess I did miss some good television.

I talked to my cousin today. He moved from here in central NY down to Mississippi, right near Florida. It sounds so nice down there. So many more girls. So much more to do. It sounds so great there, I'm so jealous. As soon as I'm done with college here, I'm moving down South. No way I'm staying here in this shit hole.

So I got this job at this Jewish Community Center place (even tho I'm not Jewish - my aunt got me the job). I've been working here for a couple weeks now. Up until now, I've been doing yardwork. And it's been pretty easy, and really flexible - I can come in whenever I'd like, work however long I want to. It's been a pretty easy job. Today, I come into this place...and usually, there's a secretary at the desk (she's pretty hot, too). Well today, she wasn't there - or here...so, guess what they did? They got me working here, answering the phone and stuff. I barely know what I'm doing, and I hate answering the phone haha. I haven't shaved in 3 days, either. So here I am, a kid with a beard and a white tee, to answer people's calls and talk to anyone who walks into this office. I'm nervous as hell. Hopefully this goes by really fast. I definitely wish I was somewhere else right now.

I remember as a kid the only time I'd see Jews was when my family would take trips back to Detroit. It was a pretty big culture shock actually. In the south, you won't find any Jews, Hispanics, Asians, Indians, or Italians. At least, in the deep south (ie: New Orleans to Little Rock to Memphis to Atlanta). Anyway, Mississippi is not a glamorous place to live. Southern Mississippi is a lot nicer than the rest of the state, but even southern Mississippi isn't as wealthy as anywhere in the northeast. As for liking the 80's so much, is that a joke? The music, movies, and culture were ridiculously bad. Usually the 80's are the punchline for every joke. I literally get sick in the stomach every time I see 80's shit on tv, and that's literally not an exaggeration. I mean, wow... the 80's... seriously? And why does it seem like chicks like the 80's so much? It seems like ya'll are the only ones who can find the positives in it. BTW - Yinka, you were born in '93? So you're... 14/15? Damn, you're young enough to be my son, haha. It always sounds weird when I hear people say they were born in the 90's, but really, that is sort of crazy you're that young. That's my little baby sister's age (she just turned 15), so to think you're the same age is bizarre.
