SLAM is horrible. I don't know why I ever subscribed to it.

Speaking of magazines, I think I should start perusing my Athlons.

My wife's brother was robbed today. Some fucker broke into my Wife's family's home back in France and took her brother's briefcase. The day before he was approached by a man that wanted to buy his classic '83 Mercedes Benz and turned down the offer. Tonight when my wife's family returned home the door was broken. Nothing else was taken, just the briefcase where his personal papers, cell phone and car keys are located. Police are doing a search, but we're all sure it was this little shit that lives above the family. He has a massive police record for theft and other crap, yet he's free (France has a complete shit system for that). He's the only one that would know where my wife's brother's room is located because nothing else was even touched or looked at in the house except for the medicine cabinet in the bathroom. Mind you, the guy is a drug addict.

Turnabout is fair play? If this guy has such a record with the law I'm sure he wouldn't report someone going into his house, getting bullshit, and looking around in the process.

Or hell, if he can run up that kind of record and not be in jail, giving him the treatment could surely go under the radar.

Actually, I have, smartass. My dad's family is from Detroit and my mom's from rural Missouri. I was born in Detroit, lived there for a half second, and then was brought up in Atlanta until the second grade, when my family moved to the Mississippi region of Memphis, where I was raised. I lived there until a few years ago, when we moved to a house just a few hours to the north in the Tennessee region of Memphis, south Memphis that is. Now I live in Memphis, TN during the summers and go to college in New Orleans, Louisiana during the school year. All of my relatives in school are all in southern schools, from UT-Martin to Ole Miss to Alabama. I've traditionally gone to Oxford, Mississippi for about a month out of the summer ever since high school, and I've travelled all around the south playing AAU and HS basketball, spending a lot of time in cities like both of the Jacksons, Birmingham, Little Rock, and Tupelo.

My whole life has basically been spent all around the deep south, so I'd say I've got a pretty good grasp on it, most likely better than yours given your comments and given my age and experience versus yours.

To say that the deep south is anything but all black and non-Italian/Jewish whites is not understanding the deep south and completely missing the boat on my original point made about Mississippi being a hell of a lot different than the northeast. Like cpaw said, I'm talking about the region of the nation that believes the civil war isn't over, the region of the nation bordered at the extremities by Houston at the west, New Orleans at the south, Memphis/Jackson, TN at the north, and Atlanta at the east. Are there hispanics in Houston and Atlanta? Hell yeah, they're modern and urban, but I'm not talking about those cities but rather the large bubble of America in which they border. I live in the heart of that bubble at the moment, and I never see any hispanics, asians, jews, etc. I'll see them occassionally, but for the most part, the deep south is a two-race region. Numbers, popular perceptions, and my experience trump anything you can say. End of story.

    I'll take a pass.

He's like your age anyway, right? I feel very weird just talking to you kids to be honest. Call me an agist or whatever, but if this were face-to-face, I don't think I'd be talking to a lot of the youngins on this board honestly.

I think it'd be hilarious to see the interaction of all of the s2 posters in the real world because of that.
