After a few months, they got sick of them and ripped them off with a screw driver and pliers. This was like 15 years ago though. Their older brother also had a bad experience with dental equipment. He had a pallet expander and through no fault of his own, it somehow re-positioned itself in his mouth and started to dig into the roof of his mouth. To make matters worse, they were driving from NJ to Virginia at the time and were about halfway there when the tragedy struck. He was only probably 11 or 12 at the time, and I can't imagine how painful that must have been. </div> Pallet expanders are the worst. There's always saliva stuck between the roof of your mouth, and the top of the metal, and you always feel the need to drain it. I had it when I was around 8, and it was a true pain. Hard to go to sleep.

I never used it and didn't have a single problem for the 2 and half years I had them.
Why do you ask, L? My cousin got orange and black in October. I still question that decision, 3 years later.

The worst part about braces is when you first get them, you constantly worry about having food getting stuck in them.

When you eat at home, it's cool, because you can go to the mirror and clean them.
