<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I was talking to an NBA big man's coach and asked about Florida's Joakim Noah, whom the Bulls looked at Friday.

"I see him as a mid- to low first-round pick," the coach said.

That's not exactly where most of the mock drafts?which Noah generally scorns as uninformed?have the Florida center. The coach likened Noah to Mark Madsen, the Timberwolves reserve. And though Madsen is listed two inches shorter, they did have similar statistics in college with Madsen averaging 10.9 points and 7.9 rebounds in his Stanford career and Noah 12 points and 8.4 rebounds.

"Their skill is energy," the coach said. If given the choice between Noah and Hawes, the coach said he'd want Hawes for his NBA potential. He likened Hawes to Clippers center Chris Kamen.</div>

I don't really like the comparison to Madsen based on college stats. As I continue to mention the Gators team was so balanced that you really have to look at what their skills are on the court, because if you were basing it off of stats, none of them would be a 1st rounder and might not get drafted at all.

Madsen is all energy, but does Madsen have the ball handling that Noah has? Does Madsen have the ability to make plays via passing that Noah does? Noah is easily a more all around player than Madsen. Energy is basically the only thing that they have in common. Hell I like the Varejeao comparisons more than this and I hate them too.

I would take Hawes over Noah and I think Noah will drop out of the lottery. If a team outside the lottery takes him, it will be a good pick. If he goes top 10 like mocks say, it's likely a bad pick.

I totally agree with your viewpoint. I like Noah under the right circumstances (as a 4th or 5th scoring option) on an uptempo team like G-state or Dallas.

I did not know until after the season that Noah was so despised by opposing fans.

Any idea why that is the case?

He's flamboyant and was talked about a lot after passing up being a Top 3 pick to come back to college. He also made the All-American list while being undeserved. He's cocky and arrogant. He basically took the place off JJ Redick in being the most hated player and he is probably more hated then JJ was. That's why people hate him.

^^ I hate him because i just don't see why everyone (experts) think he is so good. Sure he is athletic but it is an akward athleticism. He just is fluid with his moves and ballhandling at all. Plus he can't shoot worth a lick.

He's a Darko kind of player with no shot. Joakim Noah has no offensive game really but should be a decent defensive specialist in the league.

OK, now you are getting a bit out of hand. He can score, you have to remember that a shoulder injury hurt him a bit. I think he will be way better the Madsen, he will be a good scorer, along with his energy and defense.

He CAN score, but he doesn't have much of a post game besides the occasional dunk and chest pound.
