The 7-foot Chinese would appear to be a natural for Golden State, which could attract the large Asian population in the Bay Area. The Warriors could package Richardson and something for Boston's fifth pick?Theo Ratliff's expiring contract and maybe Sebastian Telfair. Keep an eye on the Warriors.</div> Source: Chicago Tribune
I think that would be a good trade. 1. Jrich is not the explosive leaper he once was. IMO if he is not explosive he is no more than a Michael Finley type player 2. I am excited about Yi's potential 3. We get a young PG in Telfair who could turn out to be a Chauncey Billups type player who was considered a bust but came into his own 4. We lose Jrich's contract Only down side is losing a true Warrior. If Jrich was the same player he was 2 years ago I would not make this trade, but to me he has lost his explosiveness and that was his strength...
The next time a Sam Smith rumor turns out to be true, it'll be the first time. He's worse than Peter Vescey.

I like Yi but I don't want to just give away JRich for a higher draft spot (especially if Yi could be gone before the 5th pick).
This trade sickens me. Yi, a prospect that may very well be nik tischkivilli part 2, Telfair, an undersized problem child point guard, 5' 11" 165 lbs, that cant shoot... the only good news is the expiring contract according to trade checker this deal works..... and works for me - al jefferson, theo rafliffe and #5 for harrington, foyle and #18 and a future pick or harrington sarunas and pick for powe, ratliffe and pick swap

First of all, I hate the idea of trading Richardson for anything less than another proven, young, near all star. But, if the Warriors HAD to make a deal with Boston, I could see it being something like Richardson and O'Bryant for Ratliff, Green, Powe, and the #5. Boston has a lot of nice young assets, so there would be a lot of room to tinker. Basically, it'd be Richardson and O'Bryant for the #5, Ratliff, and a couple of players who aren't named Pierce or Jefferson.

I guess as long as you are getting Green in return it would be worth it... He showed a lot of promise last season.
First of all, I should say that I don't know anything about how good Yi is and might become. However this deal could be similar to the Grizzlies SAR for Pau Gasol type of deal that has really helped the Grizzlies and really hurt the Hawks. I don't know why the Celtics will want JRich when they have Pierce and Wally making all that money. I guess this writer is just telling us to keep an eye out for such a trade, and since people have been thinking that the Warriors should trade up to get this guy, I guess this may be the Warriors best bet. I guess we should see. Now I guess a good reply to my point about Pau Gasol is how the Bulls traded Elton Brand to get Eddie Curry and Tyson Chandler. This draft should be fun.

In that case, every fan knows exactly what they are getting (a bust!) Although I think Yi is probably more experienced in a pro league and more skilled than any two given high school big man players (with Dwight Howard and Amare Stoudamire as the exceptions), I don't think he'll be as good as Pau Gasol starting out. But we never know, in a year or two this guy could be a legit all-star. I think Yi could do it if he's got the strength and balance to compete in the matchups department because he certainly has skills and confidence. If they change up his diet, he starts working out like a mad man, he could probably add a lot of muscle. Then he can start using all his skills that he has. It's really about his body being able to compete. It's like if Yao never got stronger he probably wouldn't find it easy to score other than from outside. Yi isn't 296 lbs like Yao was starting out, so he's got to work on his body so he can work against a variety of forwards and centers that would be heavier than him or stronger than him at the same weight as Yi.
<div class="quote_poster">Legacy Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Hell no. JRich for a a dude no one knows about or possibly Sebastian Telfair? </div> Yi might be a big gamble, but i would do it for J-Rich. That is to say if I did not have Biedrins or Ellis. The Warrior already have two upcoming stars, why get Yi? Anyway, i don't think Yi can fit in the small ball play. Also to all of these possible people for the Warriors, i suggest go hard for Marion. He is the best person for this team.
I don't really like this deal. Let me tell you something, I like this Yi guy but, why would we trade J-Rich for a guy who we don't even now if he will be a great player in the NBA. Plus we get Telfair who has had some problems, and Theo who is an expiring contract. We do gain some cap space, but I don't like the idea of giving up my boy Jason Richardson.
Chad Ford said in his blog today that the big rumor going around the Eurocamp is the Warriors offering Richardson and the #16 to move up to #4 or #5. It's unclear whether the following are the actual rumored deals or just what Ford himself came up with, but here are the rumored deals: Memphis: it would be for the #5, Stromile Swift, and Damon Stoudemire. Boston: it would be for the #4 and Theo Ratliff's expiring contract if it's Boston. That's too high a price to pay to get Yi in my book.
