    L.A. Times -
Jerry Buss met with his unhappy $88.6-million employee, Kobe Bryant, for a get-together Friday between owner and superstar in the somewhat surprising setting of Spain.

They had spoken by phone two weeks ago, a few days after Bryant asked to be traded, but this was a longer, more emotional conversation.

Buss wanted to appeal to the nine-time All-Star, reminding him that trades take time to develop and that winning remains the focus of the organization, but Bryant voiced concerns about the direction of the franchise and reiterated his demand to be traded, said a source with knowledge of the situation.

"That's the message that came out of it," the source said.

Team sources vehemently insisted there were no plans to trade Bryant, and they were still hopeful that a peaceful solution could be reached. Bryant and Buss are expected to resume their dialogue in the near future. [READ] </div>

There's an inconsistency with the article. Check out these two quotes.
    <u>
    Quote 1</u>

Bryant voiced concerns about the direction of the franchise and reiterated his demand to be traded, said a source with knowledge of the situation.

"That's the message that came out of it," the source said.

    <u>Quote 2</u>
"What they talked about and what went on between Kobe and Dr. Buss is private and will remain between the two of them," Lakers spokesman John Black said.

Who's this other source, because John Black is saying the only two people in the room talking were Kobe and Buss?

Then I read this quote from Kobe's agent in Chad Ford's article:

More than two weeks after Kobe Bryant made his trade request to the Lakers, he still wants out, says his agent.

"Kobe's position remains unchanged," Bryant's agent Rob Pelinka told ESPN.com on Friday. "Kobe would like to be moved."

Here's a 3 way deal discussed in the article:
    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">
The Bulls would send Gordon, Tyrus Thomas and P.J. Brown (sign-and-trade) to Washington, and the No. 9 pick to L.A.

The Lakers would send Bryant to Chicago.

The Wizards would send Arenas and Etan Thomas to L.A.
    </div>

Lakers acquire Gilbert Arenas, Etan Thomas, and the #9 pick.
    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">

The Bulls would send Gordon, Tyrus Thomas and P.J. Brown (sign-and-trade) to Boston, and the No. 9 pick to L.A.

The Lakers would send Bryant to Chicago.

The Celtics would send Pierce to L.A.</div>

The other scenario has the Lakers landing Paul Pierce and the #9 pick.

Hmm... those two trades look interesting... But in my own opinion, I'd rather aquire some young talents (not that Arenas is old), but of course, the 9th pick fills that void. The first trade looks best by far, but I'm not really an Arenas fan. I'd rather see some trade straight up with Chicago.

Well, I'd rather see Kobe STAY!!!!!!!!!!

But, sadly, it looks like we have seen the last from Kobe in the purple and gold.

I still dont' get what it is about New York and Chicago that everyone (including Kobe) likes so much. Other than the big market neither of those teams will give Kobe much of a chance to win. New York especially. They will be in the east though so his playoff chances would be better. Also, everyone knows that Isiah Thomas has no reservations about pulling the trigger on risky moves so you know he'd be active in putting together a winner. Marbury, Kobe, Artest perhaps...?

I'm starting to lose respect for this guy. Yes, your desire to win is off the charts--we get that. But the NBA is a business, and it takes time to convince teams to give up stars for less valuable pieces. Your sacrifice over 3 years should be applauded, but you're very quickly wearing out the gratitude, you goddamn spoiled little ****.

Oh, and good luck winning the championship (or even getting out of the second round) in New York or making it to the ECF in Chicago. You will need it.

Nah, not bitter. Just mad. I'm a Laker fan, we find ways for things to work out themselves, usually in our favor.

I don't understand how you can call yourself a Laker fan and not be pissed off at your franchise player's drama queen antics. And it's not true that the Lakers aren't doing anything for the guy. They have attempted to find help for him this off-season, but again, it's a business...things take time.

What is Kobe doing? He's doing one thing (demanding a trade) and management is doing something else (trying to trade to help Kobe who still wants a trade). His little antics are making it hard on everybody.

Lakers should do the Paul Pierce and number 9. Pierce can do everything that Kobe does pretty much and he's a better team guy.

Arenas is the most overrated guy in the league so I wouldn't trade Kobe for him.

No way, I'm pretty confident that he'll end up in Chicago or the Knicks uni, he has the clause that lets him choose where he wants to go, Lakers would probably have a better deal with the Bulls. Knicks can give up Frey,Craw,Francis and 23 rd pick for Kobe and 19th pick.

ESPN would film every move he made for like a month. Here's Kobe ordering a New York bagel! etc..

True, I think he would love that, because it's seems like he is lonelly in LA.[IMG]
And this trade Frey,Craw,Francis and 23 rd pick for Kobe and 19th pick. would work for both teams I'm thinking.
    Curry+Kobe= Shaq+Kobe lol?

The radio is reporting Kobe Bryant met with Dr. Buss, because he didn't want the team to trade Lamar Odom. Mitch Kupchak does not want to trade Andrew Bynum, so once again Kobe and the front office are at an impasse.

I'm not sure what Kobe Bryant expects to acquire by not giving to get.

It's getting the point where the franchise might want to consider cleaning house and completely starting over at ground zero.

    Trade Kobe
    Trade Odom
    Trade Kwame
    Fire Mitch
    Fire PJax

This offseason has just now started and the soap opera in Lakerland is out of control.

Jim Buss criticizes PJax for berating his players publicly.
Jeannie Buss criticizes her brother for criticizing PJax on the radio.
Mitch Kupchak says he doesn't have a "magic wand" to fix things.
Kobe Bryant demands to be traded because an "insider" leaked out to the media that Kobe was responsible for Shaq being traded, when in fact that was Dr. Buss's decision.
Dr. Buss is cited for DUI and then flies overseas to China.
Kobe requests Jerry West to come back.
Jerry West is upset Kobe Bryant brought his name into the mess.
Kobe wants to remain a Laker for life.
Lamar Odom says he doesn't want to be traded, and any team who trades for him better sign him to a 3 year extension.
Johnny Buss rights a goodbye email to Kobe on his Myspace.
Kobe meets with Dr. Buss in Spain and now asks to be traded again.

Wow nice outline! I'd say let Kobe go and there will be no point of keeping him because without giving up Bynum and Odom in Pacers deal nothing will happend.
