<div class="quote_poster">shapecity Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">The radio is reporting Kobe Bryant met with Dr. Buss, because he didn't want the team to trade Lamar Odom. Mitch Kupchak does not want to trade Andrew Bynum, so once again Kobe and the front office are at an impasse.

I'm not sure what Kobe Bryant expects to acquire by not giving to get.

It's getting the point where the franchise might want to consider cleaning house and completely starting over at ground zero.

    Trade Kobe
    Trade Odom
    Trade Kwame
    Fire Mitch
    Fire PJax

This offseason has just now started and the soap opera in Lakerland is out of control.

Jim Buss criticizes PJax for berating his players publicly.
Jeannie Buss criticizes her brother for criticizing PJax on the radio.
Mitch Kupchak says he doesn't have a "magic wand" to fix things.
Kobe Bryant demands to be traded because an "insider" leaked out to the media that Kobe was responsible for Shaq being traded, when in fact that was Dr. Buss's decision.
Dr. Buss is cited for DUI and then flies overseas to China.
Kobe requests Jerry West to come back.
Jerry West is upset Kobe Bryant brought his name into the mess.
Kobe wants to remain a Laker for life.
Lamar Odom says he doesn't want to be traded, and any team who trades for him better sign him to a 3 year extension.
Johnny Buss rights a goodbye email to Kobe on his Myspace.
Kobe meets with Dr. Buss in Spain and now asks to be traded again.</div>

Well realistically, the Lakers can't turn this thing around with just Jermaine O'Neal. Regardless, Mitch should be willing to part ways with Bynum, and Kobe should let the front office trade LO if they feel they need to. That's the only thing I disagree with him on (if those rumors are true).

However, the Lakers haven't done anything up to this point, why should Kobe stay? I don't buy this excuse that Kobe's antics are ruining everything, the Lakers can still acquire pieces. The front office needs to feel the pressure.

It's not like Kobe went public with his recent Jerry Buss meeting, so it isn't about being on the News. The rumors about him are getting rampant these days, I'm not even sure what to believe aside from those radio interviews he appeared on a few weeks ago (that he wants to be a Laker but not with this roster).

<div class="quote_poster">THE DREAM Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">how in the hell do you want changes, but then say "don't trade Odom"?!?!?!?

Well at least think about this way, if he's not going to stay in LA, he wouldn't care about this kind of stuff would he? We should trade Odom though.

Didn't Johnny Buss say he has nothing to do with the Lakers organization? Anyway, I still don't believe any of these so called informants.

Offically the 3 Teams that Kobe would want to play for are : Pheonix Suns,Chicago Bulls,New York Knicks according to the espn news. Lakers would never send Kobe to Suns because he would rape them every year lol. Thats what the insider said. Kobe to the Bulls would be a choice but the Bulls would have to give up Deng,Gordon, and the 9th pick....for Kobe ..... which i doubt will happend becaue Deng can be a really good player. The other trade to the Knicks can involve Frey,Francis,Craw 23rd pick for Kobe and 19th. And it's more possible that Kobe will be dealt before the draft.

Dont get too excited, Kobe wants to win and isn't going to go to NY because Knicks aren't winning any time soon.

Look with Lebron did with all those scrubs! Kobe+Curry+Lee+Marbury+Balkman+Collins would be a good playoff team. We actually don't even know if Isiah will pull that trade for Lewis, sending Nate robinson Seattle Native there. So, never say never.

The Knicks...LOL Kobe wouldn't want to go there because pretty much there team sucks even if the east does suck Kobe and the Knicks would probably get eliminated the first round.Doubt Kobe will leave he wants attention but if he wants to leave the doors open were not going to beg him to stay or should we....ummm

    Other teams shouldn't get hopeful.

    Kobe isn't going anywhere.

Not even Kupchak would trade over his whole team to receive a new unit. Kobe is LA. I think Kobe is just making sure the Lakers make a trade. I think we should get Kidd IMO and scrath the JO plan. J-Kidd is a Magicesque type player, and will help out greatly defensively and is a triple double threat. Him and LO together=NASTY!

i think by tomorrow or in two days someone like jerry buss or kobe or phil will come out and either say that this stuff is false or that it is true. until then i dont think we should get our selves to worked up and say things that we will regret.

Since kobe has a trde clause he decides where he goes, that means if he decides to go to Chicago, the bulls wont have to offer much in return because they Know that kobe wants them and no one else. they could offer gordan, and sign and trade with noci and PJ. that way they hardly lose much for what theyre getting, they might even be able to keep their pick, but unlikely. But until we hear that its official that kobe wants out then we shouldnt worry to much. also if kobe does get traded then i think we should completely rebuild our team and start a new, starting with getting some good picks and expiring contracts, not players like Peirce that have bad attitudes and do not know how to win.

I wouldn't rule out the Knicks being the destination. They might not have much quality to send back, but Isiah will overpay and mortgage the Knicks future to land Kobe Bryant.

Isiah has no problem letting go of #1 picks without any protection. If they agree to a deal I hope it's done after the draft. The Knicks would select for the Lakers, and then include the rights to that player along with 1st round draft picks in 2008 and 2010. Remember, you can't trade draft picks in consecutive years, so instead of getting a 1st rounder in 2007 and then 2009, the Lakers would get an extra pick in 2010.

The problem for the Lakers is Kobe's power in any trade. He has a no trade clause, and he can threaten to opt out if he's not traded to where he wants to go.

The Knicks would have to give up their current group of young players. David Lee, Channing Frye, Renaldo Balkman, and Jamal Crawford.

The Lakers probably have to also take Steve Francis or Malik Rose to match Kobe's salary. Both of their contracts become expiring after this season.

    <u>Lakers Projected Roster</u>

    C - Bynum/Kwame/Turiaf
    PF - Lee/Frye/Cook
    SF - Odom/Radman/Balkman
    SG - Crawford/Evans/Sasha
    PG - Francis/Farmar

Lakers would also have the #19 pick and #23 pick in this year's draft.
Then two more 1st rounders (their own and NY's) in the 2008 draft.

The Lakers could make a big free agent acquisition in either 2008 or 2009 depending on how aggressive they are.

At this rate, the franchise is looking at two more seasons of mediocrity either way. With the Knicks scenario you buy yourself more time, but you lose out on the sure thing of Kobe Bryant and are counting on Bynum to fulfill his potential.

If the franchise decides to win with Kobe NOW, then you have to unload Bynum for the best available big man you can get back. Maybe you force Indiana into taking Bynum and Kwame, instead of Odom. Then you role with the core of Kobe-JO-Odom, which is enough to compete out West.

Right now the chances of trading Kobe are extremely slim. Kobe is The buss’s cash cow. Kobe brings in millions of dollars in corporate sponsors, ticket sales and merchandise sales. By trading Kobe the Laker organization would be losing alot more than a superstar they would be losing the biggest ticket in the NBA. IF they do not do any better next year than they did this year then the lakers will be forced to trade him next summer. Also if he keeps coming down on the laker management and complaining then the likelihood goes up but I still think that the chances of Kobe being traded are tiny.

Lakers are going to sellout regardless if Kobe is around or not. They have a waiting list of people ready to jump in if someone doesn't renew a season pass.

Maybe the Lakers won't get the national exposure without Kobe, but the team will continue to make money.

    Why?

    1. There's no football in Los Angeles, so the Lakers are the premiere team to follow in the winter.

    2. Companies and business professionals use the tickets as a tax write-off. A lot of people go to the game as a business outing. They don't really care about the game, they just go to entertain their clients or to give them out to top monthly performing co-workers.

The Laker brand was strong long before Kobe ever put the P&G on.

The team will just market the new roster as rebuilding and possibly good enough to make the playoffs.

Also keep in mind, half of Laker fans and majority of LA media don't care for Kobe in the first place. A lot of them will be glad when he's gone.

Getting too greedy aren't we? You guys aren't getting the 19th pick if you do trade for Kobe. There is also no way you guys get Kobe without giving up David Lee.

I think the most logical scenerio for us if we do trade Kobe is Chicago, but like most said, I still don't think Kobe will get traded. In the next couple of days or so, I expect Kobe to once again come out to the media and deny the reports saying that he wants to stay in Los Angeles blah blah blah. Anyways, buckle up for a long offseason, it's gonna get interesting
