"This would be someplace where basketball would become the biggest and highest of the high for the NBA. It will help the game in a tremendous way because that would give New York that solidification . . . where you look at the Knicks as, oh, man, that's the team again. There's still a search for that team that people want to follow." It is believed the Lakers would ship Bryant to the Eastern Conference, and the Bulls and Knicks appear to be his preferences. Thomas said he will keep Eddy Curry out of any offer, but David Lee, Channing Frye and Jamal Crawford would be on the table. Bryant has a no-trade clause, making it easier for him to go where he wants. </div> I personally think it's a good trade for you guys because you're getting two young guys and a good scorer back. Bulls will not offer you Deng! It's going to be undersized Gordon,Old Wallace, and the pick. And on the side note Kobe would have to switch back to Number 8 because 24 is retired by Bill Bradley. If we do get him. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">One complicating factor to any trade discussion is the notion that Bryant will not want the acquiring team to gut its roster in order to land him. </div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Bryant could also veto a trade if he thinks the team has to give up too many players, which, the sources said, could also make a trade more difficult. </div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Bryant has an "early termination option" in his contract which allows him to opt out after the 2009 season, meaning he could leave the Lakers without the team getting any compensation</div>
Salaries aren't even close, so I'm guessing Francis will have to be included to make it work? It's going to be tough for New York to make the deal, because they would be sending out 4 or 5 players and only taking one back from LA. The Lakers would have to make some other moves to accommodate all these new faces.
Why would Kobe go to the Knicks? His chances of winning there are lower than winning in LA, for a lot of reasons. First, in order to get them, they have to gut the roster out. They have to trade away a lot of key players in order to acquire him and that could mean stepping in the wrong direction. If the three mentioned were traded, that's three key players from last year going bye bye. Personally, as much as I love Kobe, I don't think a trio of Marbury/Kobe/Curry is enough to win. Because, quite frankly, there's only one basketball, and also, they don't have much after those three.
^^I agree with you bro even if Kobe said he wanted to go to the Knicks in his top 3 teams to go his not going there. He wants to win not lose.
<div class="quote_poster">lakersfan171 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">^^I agree with you bro even if Kobe said he wanted to go to the Knicks in his top 3 teams to go his not going there. He wants to win not lose.</div> The Knicks are a 500 team and had more injuries than the Lakers who were also around the 500 mark. TALENT-wise the Knicks supporting cast would be much better for Bryant than what he has now. And the East is generally an easier path to the Finals. Kobe probably reckons he can get to the Finals in the East with Marbury and Curry. MSG is the most hostile arena to play in in the entire league and Kobe digs that in a sick way. That's why everytime he plays here he drops 50. MSG will boo the crap out of you faster than any other crowd if you're not pulling your weight. New York is just that way. They boo A-Rod and they boo Giambi and they boo Randy Johnson when they're not doing what they're supposed to. Johnson probably never heard a boo his whole time in Arizona. Kobe likely craves that kind of pressure. Chicago are better than the Knicks but it's not like Chicago is a great team yet. They still haven't made it to the Eastern Conf. Finals.
^^ Yea they have talent but they sure don't have a good coach. With Isaih they wont win a championship and Kobe wants to win or thats what he says.

<div class="quote_poster">Bacon Smeller Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">No way if he is an okay coach then they would have a better record and make the playoffs dont you think that?</div> No...i think the reason they didn't have a better record is because the pieces don't fit. There are WAY too many ballhandlers on that team. Isiaih basically only acquires guys for their ballhandling skills. The team's failure is more a result of his screw-ups as GM. ALthough if he was a great coach, he would be able to make something work with that lineup - see Pat Riley and how he got that motley crew of Jason Williams, Walker, Payton, etc to win a title..... that team had basically no chemistry and he found a way for them to win. unreal.
<div class="quote_poster">Bacon Smeller Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">^^ So your blaming his GM work on why they havent had a good record?</div> YEAH! Nate Robinson, Steve Francis, Stephon Marbury, Jalen Rose, Jamal Crawford were all on the team at one point. That is 5 backcourt BALL-HOGS who all think they are good for 15-25 points in this league! Now how many ballhogs do the Spurs have? That's right - NONE.
He nearly tripled the amount of wins that all-time great Larry Brown had with essentially the same team. He's not that bad of a coach. He's not a great coach, but he isn't terrible.
Why would Kobe want to go to the Knicks? Why would he go from one team with a bunch of no names to a team with alot of names, but no chemistry what so ever. They are a horrible team, a Kobe, Marbury, Curry trio might be enough to get to the East finals, maybe the Finals. Then they would get swept by the west. Why would Kobe go from a bad GM to a horrible GM? Why would Kobe go from a playoff team to a Lottery team, if he wants to win now? The only place I want to see and the place he probably will be going is Chicago. There we can accutually get some good players in return and send Kobe to a winning team.
It looks like all Laker fans are just hating on the knicks! Because every rumor that comes towards the knicks happends to be blowned up by a Laker fan.
