<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> If a deal for Bibby doesn't happen, the Cavs could seek Milwaukee point guard Earl Boykins, who can decline his player option for $3 million next season to become a free agent on July 1. Boykins, a Cleveland native, has excellent speed, is a good distributor and he has an outside shot. Plus, according to several sources, Boykins is interested in coming back home. The Cavs do have their mid-level exception ($5.5 million) available but Boykins will certainly seek more compensation. The Cavs also could acquire Boykins through a sign-and-trade, where the Bucks would sign him to a deal and trade him to Cleveland. Acquiring the right point guard could make the difference in the Cavs' championship dreams. But it doesn't end there. The Cavs have other needs, including a backup center with shot-blocking ability to learn under aging Zydrunas Ilgauskas. The Cavs also need some toughness at any position, and last year, coach Mike Brown considered the addition of an "offensive coordinator" to spark the offense. Brown needs to make that move for next season. The Cavs don't have any picks in this year's draft but that could change. Ferry said the Cavs will look at getting into the draft. To do that, they will have to make a trade, most likely with one of the five teams with multiple picks in the first round. Those teams are Atlanta (three and 11), Charlotte (eight, 22), Philadelphia (12, 21, 30), Detroit (15, 27) and Phoenix (24, 29). </div> Cleveland Plain Dealer
FINALLY! The Cavs have that missing piece they needed to win a championship. just kidding.... Boykins is much shorter than me. He's in the NBA. I'm not.
^^^lol spurs fan talking s#!t, haha...boykins will help "some" but Cleveland really needs to try to land bibby to take that next step....
Boykins is great if Bibby shows up. Other then that, I haven't seen Earl "Benches 350 Lbs" Boykins prove anything yet.
we got boobie for the PG who can score, I don't think Earl is going to help much he may be a better passer but I would rather someone else

Yeh I know this, as I mentioned, my point is if this were my team I wouldn't start Boykins. Therefore you've got Boykins and Gibson coming off the bench and I would rather keep Gibson coming off the bench alone and get a starting point some other way and have Boykins stay away from the team.

However, he still hasen't proved he can lead an offence, and I know with LeBron, he will do that, but James needs a PG who can lead an offence, abd Bibby is that PG.
Boykins would be a great addition to the team. He would makes things much easier for Lebron. All they need is a good shot blocking center and they will be set

Nothin is wrong with Z, it just seems like hes starting to age a little, and it would really help this team if you guys still had Diop coming off the bench or someone like steven hunter. I think this team just needs a little upgrade in the paint defensively and at the PG position to be real contenders.

But I see Z starting for the next few seasons if he can maintain what he's doing now, don't be fooled by the receding hair line.
I'm not too sure about Boykins, to be frank. I mean, he's a nice player, but he simply doesn't have the court vision that the Cavaliers need. What we need is a solid Point Guard who will hit shots, make good passes and be solid on D. And I don't think Boykins is that man. It would, ideally, be Bibby. A trade based around Bibby and Hughes could provide a sturdy ground forx this.

Are you refering to the very start of the 05-06 season? If so then I would have said due to the knee issues he was having and his 3.5 turnovers per game that the Heat would not have won it. I still remember that game where he scored 21 points on 10 of 11 shooting against Detroit in game 6 of the ECF. Pretty damn good performance if you ask me.
