<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Nuggets do not have a pick in the June 28 NBA draft, but team officials say there remains a chance that could change.

"We're open for business," Rex Chapman, the Nuggets' vice president of player personnel, said Sunday. "There's plenty of conversations."

The Nuggets, who would have had four selections in this year's draft, find themselves without any because of two trades - the J.R. Smith trade last summer and the Allen Iverson trade in December.

When Denver acquired Smith, part of the deal involved sending two second-round picks to Chicago. One was its own. The other was a pick the team got from Boston in exchange for the rights to California forward Leon Powe in the 2006 draft. Those are the 49th and 51st picks in this year's draft.

Part of the Iverson deal required Denver to send Philadelphia two first-round picks, the 21st and 30th selections.

The Nuggets have been steadfast in saying guard Von Wafer, who the team signed late last season from the D-League's Colorado 14ers, is akin to any second-round draft pick. Still, there might be movement to get into what is being projected as one of the deepest NBA drafts.

Asked if Denver might still trade for a pick, coach George Karl said, "Yeah."

"There's always an activity during the draft that's a little higher," Karl continued. "For us, it basically comes down to we have a good pulse on the second round. I don't know how many young guys I'd like to have on this team, but if that's the direction we go in, so be it." </div>

The only thing the nuggets need is veteran scoring off the bench. I dont see what a rookie would bring in to help this team.
