No way is that going to happen. True that the Suns have been shopping Marion around, but it's not the same on our side. EG has never been looking to trade Jamison because like it or not, he's the leader of this team. He's got the most experience, he knows how to lead a team and the younger players here look up to him off the court. Without him, the other team's defenses would not be spread out, Arenas wouldn't have open looks often and the offense overall would suffer.

I think EG would trade Jamison if it would improve the team. Marion is a guy that could do that. I'm not sure about a one to one trade though, maybe a swap of picks or something else would be added in, but it's interesting nonetheless.

The one thing that worries me is that while Marion is fine with playing PF, he wants to play SF, and on the Wizards would still be starting at the 4. Yea he won't be playing Duncan, Boozer, Randolph etc as much, but he will still be playing them twice a year, and there are some decent sized PF's in the East. Al Jefferson, Chris Bosh, Emeka, not sure about the Nets.

Anyways, it's just a rumour of a discussion, so...

This is the sort of trade that I look twice at, because it doesn't seem to make sense. Jamison, for all he battled hard during the playoffs last year, is a known quantity. He's two years older than Marion, and at 31 might be heading towards decline. Marion is also lauded for his ability to guard multiple positions, while Jamison is a guy who gets blown by far, far too often. So, you have to begin to wonder why this trade would be made if it were made.

I suppose they have similar offensive skill sets, as both can score whether plays are called for them or not, and in unorthodox ways. But it seems to me that this may have more to do with Marion's dissatisfaction. It's been quietly publicized that Marion is not so happy being the third banana on a stacked Suns team, and would truthfully prefer to be the top dog. Considering that position isn't up for grabs in Washington, though, I'd be worried about more discontentment for the Wizards.

Although I would love for this to happen, the reality is that it won't. Shawn Marion wants to be the leader of a squad and if Antawn leaves that spot will go the Caron Butler for sure. Shawn Marion would probabely end up as the third option in Washington.

Not to mention that Marion is one of the most versatile defenders in the NBA while Antawn doesn't have the physical strength to slow down the stronger frontcourt players in this league.

Jamison is the second best player on the Wizards. Did you see what he did against cleveland in the first round of the playoffs. When he is in the right mindset very few can guard him.
