If Buss gives Kobe away he will go down in sports history as the worst owner ever. By letting go of the best player in the league twice(Shaq and Kobe) he will surpass the Boston Red Sox owner who sold Babe Ruth to finance his play.
Why does Mitch still have a job? In three years not one upgrade in players. Buss cannot want this as his legacy.

Uh, no, not even close. His teams have won 8 championships. His teams have also had some of the GOAT such as James Worthy, Magic, KAJ, Shaq, Kobe etc.

Uh, nope. I remain adamant that Jerry isn't even running things anymore. I'm 100% convinced that Jimmy boy now has control of the steering wheel of the Laker ship. Jerry was all about doing what's best for the team now, winning now, and Jim is notoriously known for being all about Bynum and the future.

If you're referring to Jim Buss, then you might have a case, but you can't label Dr. Buss as the worst owner ever, when he has one of the most successful sports franchises in the world.

He traded Shaq at the right time, but he just didn't have the right GM to work out better compensation.

The guy across the hallway, Donald Sterling is much worse.

Buss is one of the greatest sports owners in the history of the league. I wouldn't say he was the worst at all.

There are a lot of factors causing the fiasco thats happening right now. Dr. Buss is a great owner IMO, but I think he just lacks the proper GM to run the show.

Haha, wow. Not even close. he isn't even in the bottom 5 for the last few years in basketball. There's no way he is even close in all of sports history

If Buss dismantles this franchise by twice giving away the best player in the league, he has to go down in history as the worst owner. No other owner has had two true superstars and just given them away for nothing.

Umm, Shaq, Penny(yes he was a superstar), and Tmac ring a bell?

Not to mention the Magic got NOTHING back for Shaq before he hit his prime. Not one thing what so ever. At least you got Odom and others. The Penny trade netted us 2 1sts(which we traded 1 that turned into Amare for Jud Bucheler) and Pat Garrity(which actually didn't turn out too bad since Penny sucked in Phoenix).

The Tmac trade has turned into.... Darko, Arroyo, Ariza, Penny's 15 mil expiring 2 years ago for Tmac, Juwan Howard, Tyronn Lue, Reece Gaines, first rounder for this season.

Now please tell me that Buss is the worst owner in sports history.

jerry buss is'nt really the worst owner in sports, the lakers have won like 8 or 7 championships in his tenure. kupchak however can make a case as being the most boneheaded GM in sporting history. i dont know who was responsible for the shaw trade but we could have gotten a much better deal from that.

^^ Thats true its our GM that doesnt know how to make good trades but I think that the GM should talk to Dr. Buss before making a desicion on a trade.

But if we as Laker fans(and more importantly Kobe) can recognize what a loser Mitch is, and the owner does nothing, then Buss is as much at fault at the clueless GM.

Fair criticism. I think Dr. Buss deserves to be criticized for his biggest mistake thus far as owner of the Lakers, and that mistake is handing over control of the team to his son, Jim Buss. Unlike his father, Jim doesn't have the PR skills and tact to make it as a successful owner. Jim Buss never played basketball, he failed at his other ventures, and doesn't seem to relate to the people around him. I don't know him, maybe he's a good guy, but it sounds like when he's not getting his way, the spoiled rich-kid rears it's ugly head, and that rubs people all wrong, and those people don't want to deal with you.

Ultimately it's Dr. Buss's decision to appoint his son, but I think father time has a lot more to do with it, than the good Dr. simply losing his mind and putting himself in a position to be labeled worst owner.
