Believe me when I say this, if Kobe gets traded, it will be for a semi-superstar, one/two great role player and one/two scrubs or perhaps draft picks. I think the best example to look at considering Kobe's situation is Tracy Mcgrady's trade from Orlando to Houston. Steve Francis (semi-superstar), Cuttino Mobley (great role player), and Kelvin Cato (bench player/scrub) were offered for him (and Tyronne Lue and Juwan Howard, but the focus was obviously Tracy) and Orlando accepted. That trade doesn't bring a superstar in the Lakers hand but they get a semi-superstar (Ben Gordon), and TWO good/great role players (Nocioni/Duhon), as well as TWO first round picks and another scrub thrown in (to match salaries I presume). The only thing I'll laugh at is Michael Sweetney in a Lakers uniform. The second coming of Shaq?

If they could get say Corey Brewer at #9 that would be fantastic, he reminds me of Kobe. A starting line up of: Gordon Duhon Bynum Odom Nocioni That COULD be a team that can run and play with GS and Phoenix and Dallas. however, there remains the potential for them to be garbage.

Phundamentalz - The Lakers would have to spend a chunk of that cap space to re-sign Ben Gordon. If the Lakers also end up spending their MLE this year along with bringing Luke and Mihm back, the cap space is pretty much gone.

This other trade is just a joke seriously you basically trading Kobe and 9th pick who can be garbage ass Noah or something like that for super star Kobe. This will be the 2nd worst trade in Lakers history IMO.
We're not going to get better offers for Kobe because we don't have any leverage in a deal. I honestly think I'd take that deal depending who was available at 9. That Chicago lineup would be beasty. Hinrich, Kobe, Deng, Thomas, Wallace. Ring, book it!

Seriouslly Lakers shouldn't leave without getting Deng,Gordon,9th for Kobe without Lakers pick! Damn, If that trade was on the table with the Knicks I would serioslly thought about Jamal 6'5'' PG/SG,Lee,Frey but it's upt to LA LA.
This is a laughable trade from a Laker stand point. I think that now, if the Lakers ever took this trade, it would be a more spread out offense, but they might not be horrible. You say they take Conley maybe with the 9th or Horford. PG - Duhon SG- Gordon SF - Odom PF- Horford/or Wright C- Bynum Or something like that. Noch off the bench with farmar and some FA, doesn't look that bad, but I'm sure you guys beg to differ.
^^ There is no team that will offer us their whole team for Kobe. No teams offer will be good enough for the Lakers.

His situation in L.A. is not bad, the team is one piece away from a championship run and that's it. I hate all this drama crap.

The Lakers need a good point guard (especially in the triangle), and better bodies in the paint (a center that could catch the ball would greatly help). Furthermore, they need to get rid of guys like Sasha and surround the bench with depper, better talents. It's going to be a long work in progress with the direction of moves that the personnel is making (which is absolutely no moves at all!).

I'll take that package over NY's terrible offer any day. Combo guards like Jamal don't work too well out west, that's an eastern conference thing. Ben Gordon > Jamal Crawford Andres Nocioni > Channing Frye the 9th pick, a talent > David Lee. Yeah, I'm sure I'll take Chicago's deal over NY's.
REMEMBER WHO BROUGHT IT TO YOU FIRST Honestly, it'll take some time getting used to. It's like seeing your ex-gf of a long time on a date with a new guy after breaking up, it hurts.
Imagine the media scrutiny on Kobe if he really does get traded to the Bulls. There's so many subplots that I can think of already: Kobe in the East, Kobe competing with Lebron and Wade for the reign, Kobe playing in the East for the first time, Kobe playing in the city that Jordan put on the map, Kobe wearing #24 (one-up!), how far the Bulls can get with Kobe, etc. It's intriguing and I'm sad to say that the jersey doesn't look wierd to me at all, it actually looks good I'd say. I thought seeing him in #24 after so many years of #8 was wierd. It actually still is, I still can't get used to 24, it just looks odd IMO.
That's why we call him ocho times three! That's actually Kobe's head on Tyrus' body, just so you guys know. I don't think the jersey looks weird, but Karma that's ironic you mention that. Shape and I were just having the same conversation and you post it. I'd love to see the media after the deal. And you know if Kobe does win, they won't give him credit. They will claim he needed a big man to do it, Jordan didn't have a big like Wallace, blah blah blah blah blah.

If Kobe does indeed go to Chicago I can easily see the Bulls going on a championship tear for the next several years. I'm not going to get ahead of myself, because I don't want to set myself up for disappointment, but if this trade goes down expect to see a new favorite player listed next to my user name. Also I would rather see Kobe go back to number 8 if he does go to Chicago, I just think it looks better, and would cause less drama for him (not having to worry about the 23+1 story line). Its going to cost a pretty penny to get 24 off of Tyrus.
^I never liked 24, he should go back to 8. To avoid the 23+1 speculation like you guys said. Talk about another year of a top selling Jersey. I don't know how many championships they would be able to win, but I can gurantee at least 1.
