I still CAN'T BELIEVE Mullin got that Indy trade to happen. That truly was phenomenal. I think we're going to have to make some tough decisions on Barnes, Nelly, Montay, Biedrins, JRich and so on in the future but without that Indy trade, we'd never be in this position.

    Ahhhhhhhhhh....sound of relief.

Amen. Mullin had to do something or his gm career could have been shortened. He made so many bad signings... It took another former nba all-star turned GM to take Dunmurphy off our hands. Indiana's D just got a lot worse in the 3 and 4 positions. LOL. O'neil and Jeff Foster must be pissed they gotta defend for those two on the blown shifting zone assignments.

I'll have to see what the %'s say, but my guess is that any one time where Dun and Murphy are put together on the floor at once, that it will spell trouble for the center. All the other team has to do is whip the ball side to side and Dun and Murphy are too slow to recover and they go right at O'neil or Jeff Foster. In addition to poor footspeed, they're not really taking these off-balance shots or scoring inside with their strength on the offensive ends. I think Murphy is way too selfish with the ball at times and Dunleavy is too unselfish because there's nothing he can do except shoot outside jumpers. Ocassionally, we see some nice passes or drives from both of them, but eh... I don't like their games in the nba. They are just standout college players and role players at the nba level. I did like Murph in years 1 and 2 with the lighter body frame, but man, he kinda got worse IMO with the extra weight and more "outside 3pointer-oriented". And Dun had some decent moments with the ball in hand in 2003, but man... at times I'd rather see Pietrus do his point per minute thing... and then do something dumb.

Blah Indy is so F'ing screwed. Ugh that is a barf-o-rama picture over there-- and that is considering they have the all-star JO! Damn, they got saddled with Dunmurphy lol -- it makes me believe that someone might actually take Foyle...

Replacing Mike Montgomery with Don Nelson and then that trade really helped this team. I guess the main focuses now are the draft and hoping Don Nelson can stay healthy to coach next season. I think the Barnes addition really helps too, since he was vital to this team making the playoffs and advancing to the second round.

O yes we did so much better this year than we did last year. Coming from a 34-48 record and missing the playoffs by 10 games last year to getting into the playoffs this year and making it to the second round. Coming into this year I wasn't sure how we were going to do either. We entered the begining of the season and relized that our rookie and 9th pick was ready yet which was Patrick O'Bryant. We sent Patrick down to the D League to develope his skills.

Then a bit later into this season we knew our team wasn't going to be very good. So we made a trade with the Pacers which really helped out our squad. We became to do very good as a team and we entered the last strentch of the season about a game back of the playoffs.

Then in the finall strentch we pulled away from the Clippers and the Hornets. We fuinally did it. We made the playoffs for the first time in 13 years. Which then led to us beating the Mavericks in five games. Also Monta Ellis did win Most Improv3ed player award over Kevin Martain. Then we faced the Jazz in the second round and we did loose.

Though we did improve greatly from the year before.

I think that this is just the start of the Golden State Warriors. I mean, we are one of the youngest teams in the league and we just knocked ou the number one seed in the playoffs. I think we could go really far depending on what we do this off season. We need to either sign a key free agent *cough* Rashard Lewis *cough* or get some bench players either by the draft or by free agency. The 8 man rotation is not going to work out for the whole season next year. Our players are going to be way too tired by playoff time especially with our "run and gun" style of play.

Baron is a great leader and my early pick for next year's MVP. Jason will work with coach Nelson this summer and hopefully improve with his free throws. Sjax is done with his off court issues, for now. Al Harrington needs to get a post game and improve his rebounding. Monta and Andris just need to mature on and off the court. Matt Barnes (if he re-signs) needs to do more than hit a three or two a game. And Mikael Pietrus needs to stop falling on his head and stop with his idiotic turnovers. I hope Nelson helps out the bench this off season so they come out well next year or we could hopefully get someone in the draft or sign someone.

All I know is that we have front row seats to the ride of the Golden State Warriors. Fasten up your seat belts boys, cause this will be a great one. [IMG][IMG]

One thing is still certain. The Warriors are not a halfcourt team unless they got guys who can dribble drive penetrate and attack the hoop inside. Otherwise, they're all dependent on Baron Davis to make impossible inside shots that a bigger, in-the-paint player should have been doing for us if we had one. Guys like Baron and Sjax were doing so well setting up other players, getting inside the lane, and making free throws.

Also, when Baron was hurt and settling for ugly long shots and we still had Murphy and Dunleavy playing soft and perimeter, it just didn't help us in halfcourt or open court IMO. I think the biggest change was arguably change in coaching personality confronting players like Dun, Murphy and Foyle (our 3 worst guys after moving Fisher) and telling them they don't belong with the sort of game our best players thrive in (Baron + Jrich are good in the running game). The other big change was that we got rid of our biggest weaknesses by not playing Foyle, playing Ellis more instead of Fisher at PG/SG , playing less of Dunleavy and Murphy as starters and eventually trading them for more capable players. We lost all of our weaknesses on defensive and we only lost things like rebounding, which we weren't good at anyway. We also improved things like dribble penetration, outside shooting consistency, and the ability to run the break quicker. We had options on offense other than to stand around or to take more threes because players were in sync and had more options with the ball in hand. We still shot a lot of threes, but that's what small teams do to offset their lower %'s in the paint.

We also had stronger contributions from Pietrus and Barnes than anyone ever imagined. Pietrus and Barnes weren't entirely useless because they could move with the increased tempo. I just hope we don't re-sign these guys, because we could find a better fit with players that have more stuff upstairs. I remember a lot of bad stuff they did to undo all the good stuff they did. I'd probably say Barnes had more importance than Pietrus in the playoffs, though. He made some nice assists, rebounds, blocks, and shot well from a catch and shoot position.

You may very well be right in your predictions. Obviously by the end of this season the Warriors were better than the year before. Another big reason for this was caused by having a coach who used Monta Ellis and played Andris Biedrins more than 15 minutes per game unlike the previous season.

I am going to refrain from making predictions for next season right now especially concerning the playoffs. The Warriors just barely made the playoffs by getting hot at the end of the season, which was also a time that benefitted the Warriors because many teams didn't care as much to win compared to resting their players for the playoffs or get draft position. Then matching up with Dallas in the first round was also perfect for this team.

Now I have little doubt that this team can compete for a playoff spot. But right now I will opt for the let's wait-and-see approach. But obviously this team is in a better shape than it was this time last year. I remember people were saying (maybe or maybe not on this board) trade Andris for Magloire. Now we are saying don't trade Andris in a deal for the likes of Kevin Garnett. The draft next week, the summer league (to see last year's draftees and this year's too), and seeing what happens in free agency (which is mostly about Pietrus, Barnes, Azubuike, and Powell I believe), and who knows, a trade possibly will show a lot in how this team is going to be next season. I wouldn't be surprised if this team is quite different by the start of next season. Also if this team lets Barnes, Powell, Pietrus go and keep the likes of Azubuike and three draft picks, this team may even become younger, which is kind of interesting.
