<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Then how important is this weekend? A few NBA insiders believe an impressive workout and interview by Oden or Durant might prompt the Sonics to try to move up to No. 1 or broker a trade with Portland to secure the player they want. Would the Sonics deal one of their point guards or agree to a sign-and-trade deal involving Rashard Lewis for either Oden or Durant? Or will they simply sit back and take whichever player Portland doesn't select? Oden and Durant claim they don't care who is drafted first. "We're both going to be in the NBA, right?" Oden said at the predraft camp. "One is nice, but two isn't bad. You're still in the NBA."</div> Source: Seattle Times
<div class="quote_poster">shapecity Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Source: Seattle Times</div> that would be a great trade for Portland I really think that Durant can be Tracy Mcgrady type of player...and lewis coming with him will make Blazers ultimate contendres right that minute. Eventhough I'm not high on Oden he is a solid pick for the Sonics because they drafted all centers for the past 3 seasons. On the side not Jordan was the 3rd pick in the draft so, I wouldn't let Durant go if I was the sonics.
Well, if the Supes traded up to acquire Oden, instead of 'Shard I'd rather have Sene. A lineup of: Sene Aldridge Durant Roy Rodriguez Is going to be amazing in 3 years time. So, it would just be a matter of maintaining those players. I think Shard would take a little too much change, and I'd rather use that money in keeping our young down the road, and hopefully being under the luxury tax in 4 or 5 years.

Also roy is one of the best rookies I've seen since the draft of 2003, he should be played at PG let him handle the rock. I really like Webster also he looks like young T-mac ....anyway I love the way Portland rebuild it self.
The Sonics would have to be idiots to deal an all-star to the closest thing they have to a rival. I know the rest of the league is used to Wally Walker making laughable decisions, but the man is gone.

He's obviously not very skilled right now, but his upside is mind boggling. Right now, I think he's one of the big men in this league where the sky is the limit. I think he can almost dunk standing straight up, he runs the floor like a gazelle, nice hops, and his shot blocking instincts are pretty good, though most of the shot blocks come from his natural athleticism and length. Portland is built for the future, adding Shard's soon to be bloated contract isn't going to help us. I think the best case for Sene is a poor mans Bill Russell, and worst case is Stephen Hunter. I know Russell is a huge comparison, but honestly he remind me of him. imo there is no way 'Shard can be a full time power forward in the West, atleast from the little I've seen from him. He doesn't really seem to embrace contact, and kind of shies away from it. Either way, playing alongside Aldridge definitely isn't going to help matters, and our defense would be absolutely exposed. Sene kind of c) Roy at point guard is laughable. I'm not saying that he can't play it, but right now we have two great young guards in Jack and Rodriguez. Besides, he's much more effective as the off guard imo,

Lewis is more like 6'9" than he is 6'11" he hasn't got the frame to guard bigger guys and you honestly can't tell me that Aldridge and Lewis could handle someone like Tim Duncan and another 7 footer down low. I could only see this implemented if they were going small which would be a rare occasion because it's just too exposed on D.
There should be no conversation about this being a bad trade for Portland at all. Lewis is an all-star caliber player and Durant will be as well. Oden is good but not that good. I'd be very mad if this happened.

What possible purpose would Shard have in Portland? Take minutes away from Travis and Martell? He's just a cap burden. I'm not saying he isn't a great player, because he is. But Portland isn't going to win a 'chip anytime soon. IMO it's a terrible trade for both teams. Besides, Portland is going to have a ton of talent to resign, who more likely than not are going to want a decent amount of change. I'm confused as to why are even pursuing him as a free agent, he's something we don't need on our team. How on earth could this possibly be a good trade for either team? Seattle just gets the opportunity to pick between Oden and Durant who are equally talented and have equally bright futures, but like you said they lose an all-star caliber player. I think it's a pretty dumb trade either way you look at it.

I don't really see the need for either team to make a trade. especially with each other. you can't really go wrong with either pick at this point. the sonics have the easiest decision in the world right now. oden does fit the bigger need for the sonics and durant for the blazers. if the blazers go with durant then the sonics get the player the need. if they go with oden then how can you really be mad at getting durant?

Dropping off two great talents off to your rivals for someone you "might" get anyways. I don't think that there is a big enough disparity between Oden and Durant for Seattle to add in Rashard Lewis. My commentary was more directed at the people critiquing Rashard's play like he's not adequate compensation. It makes no sense for each team for sure.
Would make more sense for Portland to trade Randolph + fillers for Seattle's #2 pick. Jack/Roy/Durant/Aldridge/Oden would be a killer lineup.

What are you talking about look at Suns they played 1 year without Amare it was all guards and PF almost and they beat the crap out of a lot of teams. Lewis is 6'10'' not 6'9'' he spreads the floor so the lane will be open for Aldridge and Roy... Roy is a great player on PG position...he makes the right places most of the time. I would trade Zach for Lewis straight up to get him.
I was just thinking the same thing LBJ2006MVP. What about a straight up swap of Rashard Lewis for Zach Randolph? From a talent standpoint, I think Lewis is better than Randolph. But each one fits better on the other team, even if Lewis takes minutes away from Outlaw and Webster.

I mean seriously... in NBA.com's slideshow they look like father and son
