VITALS: 6-10, 240, Providence OVERVIEW: Ended four-year career at Providence ranked fourth all-time in blocks (189). Selected to the All-Big East first team and was named the Most Improved Player as a senior. Became third Friars' player to lead the Big East in scoring in league play (19.9 ppg). Recorded the third-highest field goal percentage in school history (.640). Had 20 points and 20 rebounds vs. George Washington. Tallied a career-high 29 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked eight shots in a loss to Syracuse. Scored 22 points against Wichita State as a junior. LIKELY DRAFT POSITION: Second round pick. COMPARATIVE UPSIDE: Juwan Howard COMPARATIVE DOWNSIDE: Brian Skinner ROLE PROJECTION: Physical power forward who can play spot minutes at center. POSITIVES: Hill can score with a low-post game that lacks variety but is nonetheless effective. He relies primarily on a righty jump hook, and he does a good job of using his body to make sure the shot is not blocked. He's a good runner for a man his size and gets his team easy points with follow-ups and layups on the break. Despite not having a lot of weight, Hill doesn't mind mixing it up and as a senior he became a dependable shot-blocker. He has the frame to add another 20 pounds or so over the next few years and that should help him operate in the low post. SHORTCOMINGS: Hill will need to show an aptitude for learning new post moves, since NBA teams work hard with advance scouting to take away a player's pet move - in Hill's case, a righty jump hook. He'll need to develop counters, like a turn to the baseline for a short jumper and a drop-step move. Hill had been a horrendous free-throw shooter until improving to 60 percent as a senior, still below par but on the way up. He'll have to improve on that number since he is a low-post scorer and will get his share of attempts.
