OVERVIEW: Three-time Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Fazekas averaged at least 20 points in his final three seasons, including 20.4 as a senior. He is one of only six players in NCAA history to score 2,000 points, pull down 1,000 rebounds, shoot 50 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free-throw line. The others were Rick Barry, Larry Bird, Bill Bradley, Christian Laettner and Keith Van Horn. Ranked fifth nationally and No. 1 in the WAC in rebounding (11.1 rpg) as a senior, when he posted 21 of his 62 career double-doubles. Scored a season-high 33 points to go along with 15 rebounds against Fresno State. As a junior, he scored over 30 points four times, including a career-high 37 at Hawaii and 35 in a win over Kansas.

    LIKELY DRAFT POSITION: 25-35

    COMPARATIVE UPSIDE: Raef LaFrentz

    COMPARATIVE DOWNSIDE: Greg Foster

ROLE PROJECTION: Perimeter shooting big man off the bench.

POSITIVES: Fazekas has honest-to-goodness offensive ability. Not only can he shoot the ball with consistency to 20 feet, but he also has an excellent touch around the basket. His big rebounding numbers (11.1 rpg as a senior) are unlikely to be duplicated at the NBA level, but he should still be a factor on the defensive boards. Fazekas has been fairly unathletic all his life, yet finished as his school's all-time scoring leader and second in rebounding, meaning he has found ways to be effective other than using sheer athletic ability. Fazekas has excellent concentration around the basket and is often able to score while being hit.
