OVERVIEW: Prolific scorer for the Trojans who finished second in the Pac-10 at 17.5 points per game. He had 13 games of 20 points of more - tops in the conference - and his 647 points last season were the fourth-most by a player in school history. His shooting percentage improved every season, and the junior shot an impressive 52.5 percent from the field and 44 percent from 3-point range. Scored season-high 30 points against Arizona. As a sophomore, averaged 17.3 points, including games of 33 and 32 points, and 6.6 rebounds. Earned Pac-10 first-team honors in his sophomore and junior seasons.

    LIKELY DRAFT POSITION: 10-17.

    COMPARATIVE UPSIDE: Josh Howard

    COMPARATIVE DOWNSIDE: Kedrick Brown

ROLE PROJECTION: High-scoring swingman off the bench next season; eventual starter.

POSITIVES: One thing Young should be able to do right from the start is beat his man off the dribble and get to the basket. He's an up-tempo guard who will thrill the hometown fans with spectacular jams, but his coaching staff will have to rein in his natural instincts a bit and teach him the game so he can maximize his package of skills, which is impressive. Young has improved his perimeter shooting. Despite his thin build, he is fearless and will challenge big men for his share of rebounds.
