<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CHARLOTTE ? Are the Charlotte Bobcats trying to move up in next Thursday?s NBA draft? After they worked out University of North Carolina freshman Brandan Wright on Friday ? a player rated in the top five of virtually every mock draft ? it would seem a logical conclusion to make. After all, no one who is following draft projections sees Wright slipping to the Bobcats? first pick in the draft (No. 8 overall) and he certainly won?t be around for their second pick (No. 22). New Bobcats coach Sam Vincent knows Wright, a 6-foot-9, 205-pounder with a 7-foot-4 wingspan, is rated highly. Vincent also left media covering Friday?s workout with the impression he knows how the pre-draft game is played. ?You know, the draft is a funny thing,? Vincent said when asked if Wright?s workout (with Boston College?s Sean Williams and Colorado State?s Jason Smith) was an indication the team was looking to trade up. ?You never know exactly what?s going to happen. Sometimes, there?s guys who are projected to go early and they slide a little bit. And, sometimes, guys have a big impact from overseas that nobody really even knows about. So we don?t really know what?s going to happen. And then on draft day, we let the teams decide what they think they need to do.? Clearly, having Wright in for a workout when he?s previously worked out only for teams picking third through sixth in the first round indicates some level of interest in Wright by the Bobcats. It may also show that Wright has an interest in playing in Charlotte ? many players rated as high as Wright typically wouldn?t workout for a team drafting in the Bobcats position unless they were really interested in that team or were aware of some level of trade interest. ?It?s a combination of a lot of things,? Wright said when asked why he worked out for Charlotte. ?You?ve got to be able to cover your tracks. You know, teams might try to trade into the top five to get the player they want. You?ve just got to make sure.? </div> Source: Gaston Gazette
I wouldn't be against it. I can see him having a Tyrus Thomas like impact as a rookie. He's definitely going to have to gain weight though, because he's a toothpick.
