<div align="center"></div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It's an exciting time to be a Hawks fan! This week the team is launching a new logo, new uniforms, a new Web site and has two lottery picks in what many are calling the deepest NBA draft in years. According to Atlanta Spirit President and CEO Bernie Mullin there are several reasons for the uniform and color-scheme change and the alterations were the result of months of collaboration between Atlanta Spirit, the Hawks players, the NBA and Adidas: "The inspiration for the colors came from the original St. Louis Hawks uniforms which were red, white and blue. Those colors were also used for the first two seasons in Atlanta, and the 2007-08 season marks the 40th anniversary of the Hawks in Atlanta. It's also the 50th anniversary of the Hawks NBA Championship and those two anniversaries are part of the reason we opted to make the change now. "It's a more modern, sleek, and aggressive look that goes with the product that we?re putting on the court this season. We know our players love it and we?re sure the fans will too," said Mullin.</div> Source: Atlanta Hawks Website (Visit to view more photos) Thoughts?
I really hope with all these teams changing jerseys the Bulls just keep theirs. But these are alright, they look nice now but after I see them play in it for a season I may find it looks a little too Charlotte Bobcatsish to me, doesn't seem like a Hawks jersey.
<div class="quote_poster">J_Ray Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I could of swore they just barely got new ones.....and a new logo too....</div> Their last logo was 12 years old, and their last uniform was 8 years old.
Well the hawks messed up when they made the red in the jersey minimal. The hawks color is red now its white and blue. I like the style of the lettering tho.
Their old jerseys with the Hawk spread out on them were the greatest. I don't like how teams change their jerseys and/or colors all the time. They lose their identity in the process. There's no tradition anymore outside of Boston and Chicago, and even they've made a few minor changes over the years.
Celtic jerseys are where it's at. Maybe the Bulls too. The rest?..just marketing and money hunting. No more no less.
<div class="quote_poster">dallasdude Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">New uniforms look ok..but the hawks would still suck.</div> Very true! But I have to admit that the look great. If i was a Hawk fan i would buy that jersey.
<div class="quote_poster">dallasdude Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">New uniforms look ok..but the hawks would still suck.</div> Sadly its the truth. If they had a winning team along with those sick uniforms it would work so well.
I think I would have liked it more if they switched the red and blue parts, so the jersey is predominantly red with blue as the alternate/minor colour.
I think this move is gaining more of an identity than anything, as the article states, when the Hawks very first entered the league as St. Louis, this was their colour scheme, and with so many teams sporting Red uniforms these days, I think it is a welcoming change. The uniform looks nothing like the Charlotte one.
Werent the old St Louis ones mainly red with a little bit of blue trim? I don't like how this navy color just comes out of nowhere. They could have been more original.
They are pretty similar to the Bobcats road jerseys. The secondary logo on the shorts looks like the Bobcats logo: Should've sticked with red as the main color.
