<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Chauncey Billups officially opted out of his contract Monday, making him an unrestricted free agent as of July 1. "Chauncey's first intention is to come back to Detroit, and we'll continute to explore that as an option, but if we're unable to make a deal with the Pistons my obligation is to look at other possibilities that will provide long-term security for Chauncey and his family," agent Andy Miller told ESPN.com. Billups was due to make $6,819,000 next season in the final year of his contract, which had an early termination option. Pistons president Joe Dumars has consistently said he is confident the Pistons will be able to re-sign Billups, whose negotiating leverage will be impacted by the small number of teams with significant salary cap space. Milwaukee and Memphis are two teams with cap space and a need for a point guard, but neither team is expected to have enough space to make a better offer than the one Billups will get from Detroit. Well I hope that Billups looks in the Lakers way because the Lakers do need a good productive Point and Billups can be that man.
I think he would be a great fit for our team, but if he's looking for a big pay day, we won't be able to afford him. If he comes to the West, the East just got a whole lot easier.
Billups= MLE Garnett= Odom, Bynum, Kwame, 19th Pick (In The Works) Artest= Sign and trade Luke, Cook Lakers= Champs

this isnt suprising at all. we all knew he would opt out and get a max deal. this guy is over 30 and its finally time to cash in. I think Detroit will pay up. but who knows maybe they will dismantle.
<div class="quote_poster">K8BE24 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Billups= MLE </div> Billups MLE? Please there are teams like the Magic who are under the cap which can offer him a starting salary of 8-10 million a year. He won't sign for the MLE. Most likely he will be back in Detroit with a pretty big new contract.

Guys who are 30 plus and still playing great ball dont do MLE its all about life after basketball at that point. the more money the better. Thats half the reason Wallace signed with chicago.
2 of of them will go on the same team and other 2 well going to the same team also I see it as Kobe and Artest at Kings Billups and KG at Minny
<div class="quote_poster">K8BE24 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Really you think?</div> Well I agree with that won't you. The Lakers would have a great season with those star players and I think they will fit pretty good in the Triangle. The Lineup looks pretty good don't you think.
